I just returned from my first trip with the SS1. We spent 10 days traveling through Eastern NV, Idaho, and Montana. The SS1 is a HUGE improvement from my old setup in which I'd remove the 2nd row seats fold a futon in half, stuff the back with coolers and luggage, then have to move coolers and luggage to the front seats / roof in order to sleep at night.

I was worried about the lack of headroom, but the tradeoff for convenience and comfort was 100% worth it. I'm also convinced that drawers would waste too much space. You'll notice that I have the legs extended to max height in order to accommodate coolers underneath - which was a huge priority for me.

Here are a couple pictures of the setup:

How are you bridging the gap where the sleeping platform rests on the folded down second row?

What gap is there to bridge? The system's platform requires nothing at all. Just unfold the panels and make your bed! :)

Can you clarify what you mean?

I used a folded, thick sleeping bag. There is a gap because I’ve extended the legs so high.

what sleeping pad are you guys using?

I’m using a full sized futon. It’s pretty hard so I just bought a latex mattress topper for next time.

Hi Everyone,
We are very excited to announce a new offering for the SS1 drawer system! This is a 'Beauty Panel' Cover that provides a clean, finished appearance to the SS1 drawers.

Underwing storage access is provided via a hinge that opens 170 degrees allowing full, easy access. The hinge has a snap close feature, firmly holding the door in place while closed. The panels are made from textured HDPE material, creating an excellent finish that will help reduce the appearance of any damage, dirt, etc. that will be encountered with heavy drawer use. The HDPE also makes for easy cleanup, a simple wipe down to remove any spills, smudges, etc.

These can be retrofitted onto existing drawers with a few holes drilled in the drawer faces. Future drawers will be offered with the holes pre-drilled to accommodate these as a simple bolt-on addition. They will initially be offered in black and gray.

Take. My. Money.

Those drawer faces look awesome!

Any chance those 170 degree hinges could be used on the wings eliminating the piano hinge?
Thanks!

The wing hinges could be converted to the same 170 degree hinges. That's a future update we're eyeing to reduce/simplify our manufacturing processes. It won't change pricing and surprisingly doesn't affect weight much either. It's something we're excited to try out, but we have to the other fun stuff first. Beauty Panels now, slide out table very shortly and more to come. All completely retro-fittable to existing systems.

Hi Everyone,
Wanted to share a picture of a very impressive system that was recently installed in a 2020 Landcruiser Heritage Build. This is a dual drawer sleeper system that the customer had leather upholstered. We are really blown away by how nice this turned out! Combined with the black beauty panels this really looks great. The customer also changed the standard d-ring cargo tie down for something that fit their specific needs better.

We currently have 100 packages in stock and ready to ship!

Do you think it would be worth spending time to figure out a solution for a second row seat delete with the SS1+sleeper platform? All summer long I run the sleeper fully out, and just think about those seats under taking up space.

I wonder how some sort of box / drawer system would fit.

I certainly do think it's worth offering a solution! So the first thing that comes to mind is a psuedo-custom system we installed earlier this year in an FJ60. We used our standard 100 series platform, and attached our 5th Gen 4Runner sleeper/slide system. On the 4runners, we can't utilize the folded rear seats, so the sleeper is supported by heavy duty slides and some custom brackets.

At the moment we wouldn't necessarily be able to support building in any new drawer/storage solutions to take advantage of all the newly free'd-up space, but you could use totes, bins, etc.

It's a pretty simple fit, would require some new holes be drilled, slide installation, but that's mostly it.

I was thinking some removable legs that could be added to the part that folds over the 2nd row seats.

Same here, that may be the easiest solution. Could pull either one or both of the rear seats out when in camp mode, add the leg, and get that much more storage room .
