The truck is a 2002 with the original master cylinder/brake booster. I haven't removed it from the truck yet but I have a new one coming this week. Reason being, a few weeks ago I got the long beep at start up and I know the pump wire terminals are quite corroded and causing resistance. The pump still sounds smooth and runs fine so far and the master cylinder is fine with no sticking. I've flushed the system every 18 months including activating the solenoids thru Tecstream so other than the wire terminals I believe the unit is still in good condition and worth preserving in case sourcing becomes a problem in the future. My plan is to remove it, repair any motor and wire issues and bench it.
My question is what do you think is the best way to store it. I will flush it out with new fluid prior to removing it but that fluid will still go south within a year or two. Just looking for suggestions for the best way to preserve all the internal parts: seals, valves, aluminum bore, etc.
Maybe something other than brake fluid? Silicone brake fluid perhaps? Or just use Dot 3 and hope for the best?

If you want to store it for a "just in case," then I would rebuild it first. Rebuild the electric motor, replace the master cylinder piston and the three rubber grommets between the reservoir and master cylinder, and clean the reservoir. You can do all of that for under $300. Then add new fluid, bench bleed it, and plug the holes. I'd then put it on the shelf and admire it, and probably never need it. I wouldn't worry about the age of the fluid, its only there to keep the seals from drying out, and if you ever need it you'll put new fluid in.

Thanks Bisho, that sounds like good advice. I guess I'll wait until I pull it apart and see what condition the motor is in and then take it from there.
