on the road again....
a while back several people were raving about a particular air mattress. I recall it is sold at REI and other places. Was it the Exped Synmat ?? If so...YIKES....$588.00. Is that the one?

I may opt for a bearskin. :))

Never mind...found the right one. You have to buy 2 if you want to sleep two people so it's about $500

2 Exped Mega Mats here. Price of entry is a bit steep, but they’re more comfortable than my bed at home!
Worth it in my humble opinion.

Yeah....that is what everyone said...well worth it. Sleep good...feel good. :))) I'm going for it.

Thanks,
Jim

They're generally not too difficult to find for about $160 when an online retailer has a sale. Unfortunately you just missed a Backcountry sale where most sleeping pads, including Expeds, were 20% off. It might be worth waiting until Black Friday if you don't have an immediate need for it.

EXPED Megmat DUO is 41"x72" fits between wheel well openings perfectly.. 4" thick.

Moosejaw is a good online store, give you store credit depending on how much your product costs.
But they have good prices. I don't know if you can get this particular mat at REI, you could ask. Click on the link, it still opens Dont' know why that message came up.

perfect...thanks. Just what I wanted

EXPED megamats are awesome we have 4 of the 7.5 (3”). I haven’t used one in the back of my 200 but have used them extensively. The only downsides are they are big and heavy if you are using them for backpacking (although I have). They used to be available at the Bx for <$100

Another vote for the megamat, we have two. Also, REI isn't the cheapest but we had one megamat's valve blow out and they took it back and exchanged for a brand new one. So, one plus for REI as well.

I own a couple exped mega mats and a couple REI camp pads. The exped is a 10 out of 10 for comfort but pricey. The REI camp pad is 9.5 out of 10, and quite a bit cheaper. Plus the Coleman blower fits exactly over the inflate/deflate nozzles, making inflation and deflation a breeze. So to me the Camp Pad is a better value. Either one is a great choice.

Every time I hear someone say that, I think aww, you must not have a very comfortable bed at home:p:D

X2 we’ve been through three megamats and three REI camp beds. Our current set up is the megamat duo sideways with a 3.5 camp bed sideways at our feet held in place with a king size fitted sheet. Closest thing we’ve found to perfection in a tent. We’ve slightly outgrown the duo in the back of the cruiser...

Then add this. Makes for a huge car tent.

I had bought that but returned it because the sides would not seal very well due to the LC “love handles”

I’ve posted these before...but here is the Exped...on either side...with help from my drawers:

Regarding g the wider, two-person mat mentioned earlier...keep in mind that sharing the same inflated mat means that when you move around...get on or off in the night...it will raise/lower/jostle the other person due to air pressure change. For this reason, we very much prefer two separate mats.

If we were both going to sleep in the truck, I’d add a narrower mat in order to avoid the partner-movement annoyance.

I’d get two for two sleeps, though they need to be a bit narrower that the Exped10XL.

yeah...looks cool. I noticed the thermorest mentioned above is made so that you don't move the other person if you move.
Too many thing to try. I'll probably go with two of the Exped's

These fit because of my drawers (eliminates wheel well intrusion factor), and 2nd row seats that aren’t flipped up against the front row. -Sleep surface is a huge gain with drawers. :)

yeah I can see. I am about to install my Arb drawers and not sell them yet..if at all. :))

Easily solved with a couple magnets.

The usable interior space with and without the car tent is dramatic.

To the Megamat guys in here. I still have my 3rd row in. Is the auto the way to go? Or the megamat duo 10 medium? Or another model? Thanks
