there’s a reason that hose is factory ribbed for your pressure.
Common! That’s it no reaction to that! I found myself extremely funny and witty, pure gold!

I talked to a friend from MUD here in Ontario. He’s got the nicest rust free 60 I’ve ever seen. California truck. 3B with new turbo.Sort of on the topic.
My air filter housing (60 series) flex pipe to smaller diameter (I haven’t measured yet) turbo is on its way out. Anyone found a suitable tapered flex pipe? Toyota part number? Or have a good used one?

ah hah I think I figured it out!For some reason even if I turn my cleaner lid I think I have much more reach than that picture, different manifold maybe? That turbo appears to be towards the front more than centred on the manifold like mine.
Yes, it's a swap. Gary said he actually fiddled with the angle of the air cleaner and welded a little bracket to accommodate. I won't be able toah hah I think I figured it out!
You said that’s a California cruiser, they didn’t get the diesels so that must be a diesel swap in there. That’s probably the fj60 air box or bj but mounted in a different position with the 3inch outlet lid vs my 2.75.
My hj61 lid is the same outlet. Just under 3".Yeah! We unanimously decided the paper element is by far best here, now let’s discuss how to get the most out of that element.
So you slap a turbo on a N/A motor you up size the exhaust pipe right, why wouldn’t you also up size the factory N/A intake?? I’m not talking higher boost pressure, less restrictive intake means quicker boost at less rpm and also less Egt.
Throw away the small 40 series canister the later versions swirl better I believe.
I believe that crushed side is probably to improve flow with a more even less disruptive vortex entering the pipe.. or there wasn’t enough room for the hood to close

This is a N/A 3.4 litre 3B 60 series lid at 2.75 inches
Can you check for me, I believe the 4 litre 12ht to have a 3.50 inch lid outlet from shady internet research.
I can’t find online what size lid outlet the 13bt came with from Toyota it looks visually to be larger maybe 3 inch? if anyone has one please measure for me.
80 series should have between 3 to 3.75 inch outlet depending on what motor with I believe the gas to have the largest diameter.
Your turbo can pull a lot of air (350CFM) threw your intake even if it’s restricted but that first big gulp off the stop light will take longer/more rpm to get that air resulting in later boost.Would be quite interesting to hook a vacuum gauge up between filter and turbo inlet. Could experiment with a few different things then. But really none of these diesels flow much. I think I calculated my 2LTE at 18psi sees 350CFM maximum.
Interesting. I have a static pressure gauge with 2 leads, so could actually do a comparison of the 2 different lids.Had to dust off the old vacuum gauge, never used it on a diesel before!

Conveniently i discovered a nipple Toyota probably put there for exactly this purpose I had over looked all these years!

And there you have it I have 3/4 to 1 psi spike of vacuum on my factory intake post filter at 3000 rpm 10psi boost. And that’s if my very cracked flex pipe isent leaking. and no change with the filter removed.

Any of you are welcome to borrow my gauge to check yours. If you cared to have a gauge permanently installed in the truck you could probably watch your filter get clogged.
Yes I just measured mine it’s od is just under 3 inches. The other thing, isn't the intake to that box smaller still?
The line to the engine is 2 7/8 but I think the inlet is smaller...not near truck to measure![]()
Ha, snorkel actually makes it worse, aside from the bit of ram air effect.Yes I just measured mine it’s od is just under 3 inches.

Uh oh! Snorkels here we come!!
Yes I just measured mine it’s odd its just under 3 inches.
