Well, I didn't like the idea of storing the beastly 300p in the car. It's way too big and bulky. On top of the LX570 having covers over the battery making alligator clips a PITA in use. So I've returned it and ordered a Viair 444C which is of higher build quality with the right weather resistance, and therefore capable of being exposed to the elements being hardmounted. It's also 100% duty cycle and 200psi capable. I actually ordered the dual 444C kit, and will be splitting one to my bro.

I will mount this with a tiny 1/2-1 gallon air storage tank. It'll work more like an accumulator to store a bit of extra air when switching between tires. So the compressor can work continually, and I will have the benefit of a bit of burst air from the work it was doing between tires. In this way, it will work faster than just the CFM it's rated for.

No promises of when I'll get to the install. I may look into mounting it ahead of the radiator so it's not subject to all the heat in the engine compartment.

Haha on

Haha onboard air for the win!

Buy once, cry once.

Upgraded to the 400P. I wanted the flexibility of going back and forth between my two LCs and also to take along with me in my John Deere Gator at the ranch. Should blow away (lol) the cigarette version I replaced it with!

My Superflow is in a very similar bag to that Viair 400P. It just sits in the trunk on its side and I slipped a bungee around it and the bottom of the 3rd row seat. Not ideal but I also have a Ryobi tool bag with a bunch of tools and recovery gear in my trunk, so the compressor is fairly small in comparison.

If you don't need the Toyota bottle jack you could try to store it in the jack compartment. The 400P might not fit but the 300 might. I have a small air compressor in mine actually that I bolted in for my helper air bags.

Ya, that really is the biggest drawback of the built-in... that you can't run it back to a buddy in a line-up without proximity.

I shouldn't point just to the ARB, by the way. A powerful compressor is just so nice to use quickly, and as @linuxgod said...the biggest you can afford or tolerate with get used more often because it's not a pain... :)
@Markuson I'm as well debating between spending more to get the ARB twin vs a VAIR 300 or 400p. I like the simplicity of the onboard. The majority of the time I'm towing a MOAB Fort XL trailer so i want something that can reach those 2 tires as well. I got a very reasonable labor quote from CBT for getting the ARB twin installed. I'm trying to price out the total but unsure what exact parts would i need. So far I know i need:

• ARB ON-BOARD HIGH PERFORMANCE 12 VOLT TWIN AIR COMPRESSOR (CKMTA12)
• Slee 2008+ Land Cruiser / LX570 ARB Single or Twin Compressor Bracket Part: SOK007

what else do i need besides this?

If you think you'll want ARB air lockers at any point in the future, you might want to go ahead and install the manifold with your compressor, since you'll need that to engage air lockers.

Otherwise... Pick out a switch you like for your dash and git er done! :)

x2 on installing the manifold when you do the compressor, Mark was spot on. Another thing you may want to do at the same time is instal a T fitting up by the manifold and run a remote air quick disconnect to the rear of your vehicle. That would facilitate air for your trailer. This is very easy to do using 1/4" SynFlex tubing and push-pull fittings. Both are available on Amazon. Be sure to get the fittings that are DOT approved. Other than that ARB's inflation kit has all the terminal gear you need.

Good advice on the manifold. Lockers not in my immediate future but will be some day. Anybody have recommendations on the best most factory looking switches? Thanks also @RET2 running air to the rear would be much easier for the trailer
