I have my aftermarket fenders installed how I want them, but still have the small gap at the fender to apron. I was thinking of drilling an additional hole in at the rear bend to try to close the gap. Has anyone done that and will it close up that gap without distorting the fender?

Wow, that's closer than what I've been mocking up on my 40. I'll be interested in your results. Whose fenders?

I bought them off eBay, the PO said he got them from cruiser corps. The sticker on the box says Auto Parts Industries LTD- made in Taiwan. I think they fit pretty good. I did have to elongate a couple of holes.

Do you have the filler strip installed that fits in between the cowl and apron that gap does not look all to bad usually it takes a little tweeking to get the gap right ....a little seem seal is your buddy if all else fails.
If you know anyone who is a master with a plennishing hammer they could resolve that gap in 5 minutes.

Gap is gone

I could not leave it alone. I used some vise grips on the apron and fender which closed the gap at the apron. I drilled a hole and installed a bolt. Gap is gone.

Looks great! Are you going to put a liner on the bottom to thicken it up a bit? I've heard that keeps rocks from flinging up and denting the under side.

Yes, I am going to do the Upol Raptor liner. Everybody seems pretty happy with it.
