I miss good 'ol Afroman already :grinpimp:

I have an idea to keep him alive.

Took the wagon out for a romp this past weekend. We explored a bunch of old mines and such. Ended up in Crown King for late lunch at the Mill. Was raining on and off all day. Had a great time despite having no wipers, defroster, rear or side windows.:p

The stock vented gas cap was not working out so good being right above the tail pipe. Every time you make a right turn the fuel sloshes down the side. So, I plugged off the stock cap and added a 3 side and down vent line to the setup. All seemed good until the last bit of the test drive. I turn right and see a huge splash of fuel.....like a hose. Luckily I am just down my block. I get home to find the plugged cap was gone. Since I ran the vent off the top of the tank, I don't think it was breathing right and was trying to push fuel up the vent hose.

On version 2.0.....I added a vent port off the top of the filler neck (highest point) and connected that to the vent line. I added a non vented gas cap from Napa. Took a test drive making pretty aggressive right hand turns. No sign of fuel slosh and no pressure build up in the tank.

Off road testing tomorrow..... :grinpimp:

Picked up a few parts from Camelback Toyota (discount for IH8MUD). Got some new shift knobs, some misc stuff, and the dust boot for the steering column. This closes up a huge hole in the firewall. Should be nice not having a hot wind blow on my legs while driving.

Got the rear hatch glass done. This is using the ws from Specter for a 40 series windshield. As you can see the corners are not that good. Seems this ws is okay but not ideal. The glass guy could get this stuff by the foot as well. Either way, there might be something better???
I am happy enough as I had no glass in there before.

Rear window looks good. I used FJ40 w/s rubber on all windows on my LV and it is holding up pretty good. I had the same wrinkles in the rubber, which have relaxed a little over the past couple of years.

Obviously there was no tail gate emblem on that LV truck I got, and no rear doors, but there is the drivers door outside handle if you are interested.

I am interested in that handle. Does it have the lock cylinder? Want it either way

Took the wagon out for another cruise in the desert and even up to the pines last weekend. I really need to lift this thing as I drag the rear bumper on everything. It has handled everything I have thrown at it pretty well. Goes down the highway nice and straight. It even cruises comfortably at 70 plus mph.

That's awesome. I need one for each truck. I love finding 50 year old parts that are still available, especially after I try to order a part for a Chrysler thats disco-ed on an 8 year old car.

Thanks to tahoe40/45 I have all 4 door handles. He sent me a drivers door handle with the lock in it. The plan will be to have the locks redone so I can use one key for the drivers door and tailgate. Just need to find a good locksmith now.

Does the lock work good? On mine I can lock it with the key but I can get another key or screwdriver and twist the lock open with some resistance.

Not sure if the lock works yet. Just happy to have it over nothing. I have had several Toyotas (trucks and 4Runners) in the past that you could unlock and start with various keys not original to the vehicle.

Been putting on more miles, on and off road. Need a lift bad with this much rear over hang. Overall I am really pleased how the wagon has preformed so far. Next round of fixes and upgrades coming soon.

Lift, lift,lift!

That will be the next major upgrade. It will happen along with some nice shocks and probably custom mounts.

In the meantime, I got this shifter boot installed. Made a little aluminum retainer plate and riveted it in place. No more hot air blowing up through the hole. Sometimes the smallest things make a huge difference.

Another weekend, another wheeling trip with the wagon. It seems to be doing better than this old International.

Here's the bumper I built a few weeks ago. Still need to finish up a few things but you get the point. I also did some work under the hood, like a tune up and replaced the side cover gasket. I seemed to have fixed all the leaks.
I took the wagon on it's longest trip yet, about 350 total. No issues at all except running out of gas on the way home.

I swapped out the parking light lenses to og clear type instead of later model amber. Would the clear type use an amber bulb?

I think I am going to sand off some of the paint on the bib to make it match the rest of the rust.
