There are 3 in washington but i'm not sure where they are centered. And they either don't have forums on Mud or there isn't much talk going on. I'll eventually check it out.

Gonna join up with the Seattle Cruisers heads for now. Easy to see where they are located. And there monthly meeting is normally a night during the week at a brewery in the city so it will be easy for me to walk to.

www.seattlecruiserheads.com

they don't really use that website that much most of their info is kept in their google group

T-minus 24 hours!

Not the best picture, but after a week of nothing but Il Nino weather we finally had a pretty nice sunrise over Mt Rainer. Hiking at least half way up to the start of the glacier field is my next years goal. After the glacier field it gets quite a bit more technical and turns into a major trip as it is slow going up to the 14400 summit.

Office Xmas party today.... most likely not going to get any work done. Lunch at some fancy restaurant with an open bar and then i've seen the cases of beer that where brought in late last night from elysian brewing.

Cheers to all my ONSC family hope everything is well back in NC and the xmas/barn party was a hit!!!

man I miss that view. I used to see it every morning looking out over the flightline at McChord. We've been talking about a trip up as my cousin still lives there. I know in the mid 90's the beer scene there was amazing and I'm sure it's only gotten better. We used to go to to Ale House Pub & Eatery all the time. beer ordering was by # as they had well over 70 beers on tap. Hope you're enjoying it man. Sure missed you at the Barn when I looked over and saw Andrea. I was like...wait....why do I not hear Al?

Al-little late to the party but wanted to chime in. Congrats on the move and career change, really excited for you and Andrea. We will surely miss you on the east coast. You summarized this club to a tee, I remember the steel butts drive you made to the first ONSC-Spring Tide Ride trip where we held off a leg of the trip until you and Andrea made it to the Ocracoke Ferry departure so we could move on to the next leg of the trip. Since then a staple of this club. We look forward to having you back whenever you can make it. Safe travels to and from and let any of us know how we can help in the transition.

I will try to make it back for an event at some point.... can guarantee this year maybe next one.

Started of the New Year right and went for a hike around my house yesterday and a mile into it I stumbled upon a waterfall that I had no idea was near me. Hard to tell in the photos but it was a little over 100 feet tall.

Close to the top... there was a spot in the above picture to the left of it where I could stand right at the top but the off camber path to it was covered in ice and I didn't feel like testing my luck too much.

You can see the ice hanging in the trees in this picture.

The spray from the falls was freezing on the debris it was landing on

Then later in the day I treated my mom and nephew out to a day in the snow and lunch at the ski lodge about 40 minutes down the road.

Tried to do a small hike through the snow but it was quite deep and made me realize I need some snow shoes for the kind of snow up there.

You can see how high the snow was by the berms on the side of the road

Not quite sure what the temperature was up there but it didn't seem as cold as the hike, mainly due to not having a wind chill up there

And yes I was wearing shorts

Hope everyone's new years back home was great...... I know 2016 is going to be a great year for ONSC.

Nice Pictures Al. Glad you are enjoying it. One day i will get up that way Looks Awesome.

let me know..... I'll have some crown on hand for you

Not much new happening lately.... been to a few breweries.

Took a day yesterday and went exploring. Found a cool single track bridge and took some pics around it. I'm not quite sure how far down it was to the bottom but I'm guessing it was near 400 feet or more. There was a trail down the side to the huge water fall and river below but I wasn't wearing the right foot wear to tackle it.

The nice thing is 1 mile past the bridge I found a OHV area.

Evans Creek ORV Park

Camping and trails that go pretty high up into a peak near 7000 feet from what I read on the northwest overland site

Also found an open but rutted forest service road that was 25 miles long and headed off into Mt Rainer national park

Haven't updated this thread for a while.

Been busy at work, house is on the market, VW is falling apart, lol.

Getting ready to fly back to Charlotte for easter this weekend. Will be doing some small updates on the suburban. New upgraded battery cables and SS oil cooler lines to replace the crappy leaking factory ones.

Got some trips planned this year.

First is the NW Overland Rally in June. Not affiliated with the overland expo but just as large and has for the most part the same guests, hosts, workshops, courses and presenters. It's less than half price of the overland expo and attracts a large group from Canada in all their diesel nissan's and toyotas we don't get here so win win there.

Next is a trip i'm planning for sometime at the beginning of fall.

Going to do the WABDR. Which I thought was Washington By Dirt Road but it actually stands for Washington Backcountry Discovery Route.

its a 575 mile trip starting just outside Portaland OR and ends at the Canadian Boarder. 575 miles 545 of which are on dirt and winds through the cascade mountain range. I'm pumped for this one.

Is that the Carbon River area? If so, I remember that bridge. I was there in 2001 for work, and it was sunny on my day off, so i bolted over that way in a rented taurus. I wanted to go to Mt Ranier, but ended up getting detoured to the Carbon River area. The paved road turns to non paved, and parallels the river, then winds through some huge trees. Beautiful area. I managed to knock a small hole in the top rear of the gas tank doin a three point turn...DOH.
