@drowzyGX, this master cyl design is used in 100s, GXs, 4Rs, among others. It's really a pretty neat, albeit complicated, design. But, they all inevitably run into this problem. Time, brake cycles, and maintenance play into the failure. Keeping up with the latter with lengthen the unit's service life. Brake fluid is extremely hygroscopic, meaning it sucks moisture out of what it interacts with (including you and the air you breathe), and water in brake fluid causes lots of problems. Water can facilitate corrosion of some internal parts, and does not have the hydraulic characteristics that the system needs to operate correctly. Keep the fluid running clear by periodically flushing the system.
