So I've been recently having an issue with my '08 GX470. Had the ABS cluster of lights (ABS, VSC TRAC, VSC OFF) come on. Lights go off when the engine is shut off. They never come on right when the vehicle is started. They intermittently come on while driving when the brake pedal is pressed.

I had the codes pulled C1223 and C1249 seemed to be the culprits. Popped in a new brake light switch and the lights went away for about 3 months. Then the same thing happened, they would come on intermittently when the brake pedal is pressed while driving. Goes off when engine is shut off. I put another brake light switch in thinking that the first part might have been bad and I had the same codes come back the 2nd time. Fixed the issue for about 2 months.

And here we are now, same thing sometimes while driving and pressing the brake pedal the cluster of lights will come on. No other issues that I am aware of. What should I check now? Fuses? Brake light assembly? Wiring? Wheel sensors? Thanks in advance.

That happened to me on my 2nd gen Tundra. It was the brakelight switch adjustment. Not broke, but out of mechanical adjustment. I guess after a bunch of hair trigger on/off cycles while bouncing down the road would throw the code/dummy lights. It was stupid easy to adjust. I bet when you put in the new switch, the mechanical was better, but slipped back after a few months. My brake lights would sometimes come on and drain my battery while sitting in the parking lot. Kicked myself when I figured it out...

Just confirmed, it's the exact same twist-lock adjustment on my GX

Ok, I will try that tomorrow. That'd be a very easy fix and would make sense. Thank you!
