Hello. Does anyone have any experience with Fox shocks on a series 60 Land Cruiser?

I have a 1987 HJ-61 with a 3in lift kit. I bought it this way and it has OME 60062 Shocks in the rear and OME 60063 in the front. I have always used FOX shocks on my 4x4 offroad builds, and I find the OME ones to ride a bit rought ( I am not looking to ruffle feathers, but its just my opinion). I have found plenty of FOX shock options for Series 80 Land Cruisers, however there are very few resources for the series 60.

Has anyone run FOX shocks on series 60 build, if so which model did you use? I know that Fox can build you a set for a specific application, but if there is already something out there this would be the easier option.

Thank you for any help, comment or input.

I used to run Fox and Kings on my jeep builds, but agree nothing really drop in for 60s. Dobinsons seems to be the best drop in. I wish Icon has some 60 options too
I found a set of Dobinsons but I don't have any experience with them or how they ride.

I have the dobinson’s medium kit with the regular yellow shocks and anti-inversion shackles.

It’s a bit bouncy without weight in the back but it rides 1,000% better than before. Would probably be even better with their fancy shock offerings (can’t remember name).

I just ordered a set of the Dobinsons MMR shocks from @TRAIL TAILOR. They are a three way adjustable shock that have a model which fits the 60. Jason at Trail Tailor has installed them on several trucks. I'll be able to provide some feedback once I've had them on for a bit( they are getting delivered tomorrow).

Cheers, James

I agree with your assessment regarding OME shocks. I installed some “Nitrocharger Sports “ all around and the ride got a lot stiffer than it had ever been. I didn’t like how it rode with the vehicle empty on the highway.

When bombing down washboard dirt roads, I have no doubt the OME shocks would shine.

Dobinsons IMS shocks are the highlight of the suspension kit I installed last year. No doubt the MRR are probably super nice w the ability to fine tune, but for me, the IMS hits the performance / price point sweet spot. For reference my prior truck had coils and Icons, this one is just as smooth.

I've only ever used OME shocks for my trucks. So in 30 years I've swapped in and out a few sets in 3 trucks. Never had
failure, replace when I replace springs which don't last forever. I got my BJ74
from a guy who installed FOX shocks, and he didn't cheap out on anything else, OME springs were new, Royal Purple in
everything. The one rear FOX shock blew out within a couple of months of my having it. Back to OME.

Thank you all for the input. It seems like the dobinsons can be a real contender, and I don't think that OME shocks are bad at all, I think the quality is excellent, but the truck spends 90% of the time on the road doing daily tasks and we don't have a ton of washboard around where I live in europe. I may just start by replacing the current shocks for OME ones. In Switzerland there is paperwork process to legally swap suspension components so I will start with the least amount of headache and post a progress update.

ome yellow - digressive
bilstein 5100 - digressive
Fox 2.0 - Linear
dobinson yellow - digressive
dobinson ims - Progressive ?
dobinson MRR - Linear with adjustments

that should be all you need to know how theyll feel.
