A few tire options..... (1 Viewer)

I crawled under my dash to look at my reset button (under driver side dash). It does not have "Main/2nd" option or switch. It only has the reset button. I checked a few other areas mentioned in article but I don't see another button or switch anywhere.

It would be great if there was a US 200 owner that could confirm two sets of wheels worked for them.

Have a look at this:
Understanding Toyota’s direct and indirect TPMS - Tire Review Magazine

Key sentence from the above=
"Land Cruisers have a “MAIN/2nd” switch. This allows the owner to have two different sets of tires and wheels with two different sets of TPMS valve/sensor ID numbers. For example, the second set could be used for winter tires."

The article walks you though the steps for how to do it. I have not tried it, as I don't have a 2nd set of wheels yet...but have a look.

Ya... Questionable now according to this thread from a few years ago:

TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) sensor info

Perhaps it differs in other markets...?

Any love for the Firestone Destination A/T? Its available in a P275/65/18. Wondering about road noise as city/hwy tire. Lots of love on a few other forums, but maybe LC crew steers away. Good price too.

On tire thoughts, anyone seen the new Continental TerrainContact A/T? Can get in 275/65/18 and the warranty is a tire testers dream. Nice looking (if you can get b/w).

There is no second set Botton like I've seen in the RX 350.
I bought cloned sensors and the cloning computer and made a second set.
If I swap out wheels with cloned sensors the truck doesn't know it.

I just had Toyo Open Country AT II Extremes put on a few days ago. I have to say they are much quieter than I expected. I did a lot of highway driving over the past few days, most of which was in very heavy rain and they performed very well. I am coming off of 22" Fortera's on TRD Forged wheels and I can actually feel a weight difference. I'll need more time to evaluate gas mileage but I fully expect it to drop. The ride is much firmer but I have not adjusted air pressure as if yet. They look great and I expect they will be great in the snow which will be flying soon.

Pressure around 40.

Ummmmmmm ........... It might be helpful to know what size the tires are, and whether they are P-Rated or LT-Rated - Toyo make both - before recommending a tire pressure ;)

Just sayin' :p

Found the time to call around on tires: final three options at same dealer (America's tire);
-Cooper Discoverer A/T3 @ $173
-Bridgestone DUELER A/T REVO 2@ $177
-Mich LTX MS @ $187

City / hwy but need worry free Tahoe driving in winter.

200 owners say...............????

I recently went with the Michelin LTX MS2 in 275/65/18. Toyo Open Country in the P-rated flavor would be something you might to consider -- more aggressive look and probably better in the snow.

I would still consider BFG KO2 all terrains. They ride and handle extremely well in snow, and you will not be disappointed on-road.

Just to close the loop here in this thread also:

Turns out he mounted LT285/55-20 tires, so ...

Those look very nice!

In case you're interested, the recommended Cold Tire Inflation Pressure for those LT285/55-20 tires is 47psi Front/Rear.

I had the LTX MS2 on my 4Runner. Great highway tire for 3/4 of the year. Like all all-season tire, they suck in the snow compared to real snow tires.

If anyone is thinking about the Toyo Open Country AT II, tiresdirect.net ( I'm not affiliated) has $70 rebate on them. I ordered a set in stock size for $783 & free shipping.

I had the 1st and then 2nd gen Revos on my 3rd gen 4Runner when I lived up some gravel switchbacks at the top of a (small) mountain in Virginia. They did amazingly well in the rain and pretty damn good in the snow. They're not a high mileage tire in my experience - I typically got ~45k miles out of them before I would replace them, and while they were pretty quiet when new they would get noisier after ~30k.

Installed Falken Wildpeak AT3's last week in LT285/75R17 on my 17" RW wheels. Had 285/70R17 KO2's and I must say, these look damn good! We shall see how they do off road as well as wear over time. These are spec'd at 33.9". Right now I have them at 44psi. Minor trimming required.

The Tire and Rim Association Yearbook (aka "The Book") indicates that the recommended Cold Tire Inflation Pressure for your new tires is 37psi Front/Rear.

FYI.

Nice!

Could you please measure your tire's diameter in order to discover its true measurement compared to the spec of 33.9"?

Soooo hard shopping for tires because they are always small than stated...and sometimes a LOT smaller.

Also curious how you do with tires rubbing, etc...though I'm pretty sure your front end was widened with all the work done, right?

But anyway, measurements would be super helpful.

Pretty please?

My wife will send cookies!

Thanks for the heads up. I will adjust this weekend when my wife returns with the LC. I'll also get some measurements for you.
