Speedometer is not working and I have it turned up... way up
Headgasket is luckily fixed. Came from using starting fluid
Anywhoo, I bet I am closer to 25 mpg. Honestly I still don't have a speedo that works, you don't have a spare do you?

I have to figure out how I am going to beef up the front springs to handle the weight. I was thinking of just getting some spring off of a dodge or a ford but lately I have been wondering if I can take the spring pack apart, pull the less effective springs and replace with some add a leafs or some other springs out of another Fj. any ideas? as soon as I start the pic's will follow.![]()

nikos8 said:So if you install a 6BT and a winch bull bar, what kind of springs will you need? I guess the OME Dakars are out of the question.

Andre- is it possible to get OME's that aren't going to give me more lift then the stock springs? Can I beef up the stock springs with somoe OME add-a-leafs? I really want to keep the lift to a minimum but still have enough room for the 6 and some 35's. Do you still have those 20 ply's , those are sweet looking, maybe a bit harsh for a DDdieselcruiserhead said:You can build the crap out of a set of even OME's. Get the heavies then add two long skinny add a leaves. They are usualyl rated for about 200 lbs each (step on them to find out) and x2 for each leaf and you have an extra 400 lbs of carrying weight, so it should handle the 6BT fine I'd think... Or get stronger add-a-leafs. The 60 on my site with the 6BT has OME springs that were beefed up...

dieselcruiserhead said:Are you talking about SUA or SOA? If SUA you will want the lift and you would need it to fit the Cummins regardless, sorry. Andre
cpip said:Just to clarify. A 4bt swap is possible with SUA and a 4" lift? I got some 4" springs in the box of parts that came with my '69 FJ40. Would prefer to go that way at least at first. Save a little cash and time.
