'99 LC - Too much rust? (1 Viewer)

Hi,
First time poster, long time lurker. Been on the hunt for a 100 series. This one matches my budget, but like so many East Coast cruisers has seen its share of salt and rust. 209k on the odometer. Timing belt was just done along with brake lines, rotors, and alternator. Has obviously been sprayed for rust. Also showing occasional EVAP code. Do the pictures below plus the EVAP code mean run away?

I' love to see more pictures of the undercarriage, but at first glance it doesn't look too bad for that region. Not a southern Cruiser, but I like the fact that it's been treated in the past, I'd check very carefully where crossmembers meet the frame rails and where suspension, drivetrain and body mounts are welded.

Looks like lipstick on a pig to me...with rust winning the battle against the lipstick. But that's from my perch in the desert southwest.

Be prepared for this thread to get moved to the classifieds, that's just where these types of threads end up because it has more to
do with purchasing than tech.

If it were treated and minimal rust underneath, I'd agree, but that's pretty clearly just black spray paint, there's overspray on several things. And the things they didn't spray show the true level of corrosion. That said, doesn't look like the rust has eaten holes in the frame. So, depends on the price, what you're planning to use it for and how long you expect to get out of it.
