6.0 Iron block?
Any way you have the resources to weigh the old engine/trans vs new? I'm having trouble getting reliable weights on a 1fz.. let alone accounting for manifolds/ancillaries.
I would think you could find specs on here somewhere, everything is on Mud!
I'm not worried about power to weight ratio.. I want to keep the truck as light as possible for body control while still being adequately prepared for the wheeling I do. Aluminum block vs iron vortec saves ~80# from everything I'm reading. I'm just trying to figure out whether it's worth the $1-2k+ price difference.
Having rolled one, and already being disappointed in the on-road behavior vs stock.. weight savings has become something of a priority. Same reason I'll likely never install a real roof rack or RTT.
I hear ya, I do. I rolled a very nice v8 80 myself. It made me cry!
80lbs is not worth $1-2k in my opinion.
The only problem with that much power is being able to stop it coming down a mountain pass at 80 mph. That's where the weight savings comes in handyI hear ya, I do. I rolled a very nice v8 80 myself. It made me cry!
80lbs is not worth $1-2k in my opinion. And honestly much over 400hp and the axles start to become a real concern unless you can control your right foot 24/7! Not to mention 400hp will move a heavy beast of an 80 around no probs, like 80mph up the steepest passes in this country no probs.
Cheers

There you go!Indeed. I drive my autos like a stick though so I down shift on descent on road or off. Simple valve body kit will also make it not "coast". Had this in my last v8 Cruiser with 4L60e. Works awesome.
Cheers
