Are we to understand that whatever you install now will be temporary just until you “upgrade the draglinks later”?? If so, buy some moog junk at your local parts store and get on with life.

Same oem fitment?
How do you like them?
Any big changes from factory?
Thank you sir

No, they have to be custom made. Took about 4 hours to build, but I’ve done it before. I no longer need a steering stabilizer and it steers like it was factory.

Not sure why there’d be hate on it, but to each their own.

Four tie rod ends for ~$110 plus shipping from Amayama:

Toyota 4504769085 - TIE ROD END 25.66 1 25.66
Toyota 4504669135 - TIE ROD END 25.66 1 25.66
Toyota 4504469125 - TIE ROD END 30.84 1 30.84
Toyota 4504569065 - TIE ROD END 26.88 1 26.88

Heim joints do not take well to impact loading. They are very strong, but wear fast. That is why auto manufacturers from the factory use tie rod ends that have a strong plastic type material that absorbs impact loading better and reduces wear on the joint. Stock 80 series tre's are very strong and I don't see a need to go stronger personally.

I have done heims in the past for steering and even used grade 9 bolts because I did like you and did single sheer. It worked, no one died but I would put safety washers on the unsupported side so the body can’t seperate and leave you without steeering.

*edit I am on my phone and upon closer inspection it looks like you do have safety washers, good man.

*double edit, maybe not, maybe just misalignment spacers?

Red loctite in the picture, but got a lock washer and red loctite. It’s single sheer for now, but I plan on upgrading that soon.

I’ve heard all the reasons for heim hate, but you just need to look at offroad race s***, on a budget and unlimited budget. I’ve seen heims used single sheer for 5 race season before they were replaced. I’ve had them on 3 daily drivers(steering and suspension) and have had over 80k miles on both.

I’ve worn one set out(good s***, not the ones I have pictured. Fk 3 piece and aurora) with 80k miles, but flogged regularly and 35” tires. That being said, I’ve worn out more phucking balljoints, tie rod ends and their kind. Had 3 breaks and on a 90’s gm a ball pop out of its pocket.

I don’t want to get into a battle of what’s superior because I know what works for me, and that might not work for someone else. The heims I have pictured are only staying on for a short while, as they’re the cheaper Injected ones and they do not last long.

Not the loctite or the lock washer but the actual safety washer. It is sized larger than the actual body of the heim. Like I said I ran them I am not arguing just want them to be safe.

Ahhhh, I understand now. I’ve never seen anyone do that, but it makes perfect sense. Even my total chaos kit didn’t come with those, but it sure can’t hurt. I’ll add them in. Thanks.
