Just installed a Wheelskins cover and wanted to share a few tips. There are other threads which give detailed installation instructions and I won't repeat those but here are a couple of things I found useful.

1. Wear gloves. You'll need them.
2. I found it useful to find the most comfortable position around the wheel to work in, and rotate the wheel as you go so you are in the same position. Didn't dawn on me till I was 3/4 done!
3. I used lights to illuminate and also to heat and soften the leather as I worked. This is so it is supplie and stretches easily. After I was done the leather shrank slightly and now is a solid, tight fit around the wheel.
4. It took me 2 hours. The instructions say 1 hour...

Couple of observations about the Wheelskin cover: It's a good quality product, well worth the $43 I paid. If you follow instructions, don't miss any holes and stretch the wax string tight you will be pleased with the results. It's a huge improvement in feel and grip over the original plastic steering wheel. Does not look OEM but the leather is good quality and the fit is much better than I expected. It will improve your truck. PICT0038.jpg

I have also installed this on my 97 LX and it is great! It does take more than an hour if you take your time and do it right. I went for an over/under stitch pattern to match the factory one. This is a must if your wheel is cracked/aged.

Looks great! I think the PO on my rig did this, because it looks new. And it is not a perfect match, but it is dang close. Mine is gray.

I did in Marilu too and i ttake my about too hours too .. ( was my second one ) and I'm pretty happy with the wheel feeling now ..

Thanks for posting that, I will be ordering one soon. Does anyone know what is the closest match for the LX450 tan interior?

They have a lot of different colors on their site to chose from, i think I have oak which matches up pretty well with the tan interior, except the fact that my steering wheel and airbag cover are gray :bang:

I did mine a few years ago and have been very happy with the results. Good tips.

Another vote for oak but not a perfect match - your steering wheel will be lighter compared to the airbag and spokes. Took me 1:30 with over-under like Jeppers. Requires about :beer: to :beer::beer: to get completed.

Any more pictures of 95+ wheels?

Trying to decide if I wanna go this route or just buy a newer used ls400 wheel.

That looks nice. I just put a steering cap on mine to protect my steering wheel so i won't have to fuss too much about wear. I really don't care for the woodish trim but the steering cap matches it. I will live with it.

I really like the cap. Where did you score that?

Galandcruiser97,

Where did you get that - looks great and covers the spokes. I may have wasted 1:45 of a Saturday night (well I'm sure I did but wife was working anyways).

Any pix from the rear of the steering wheel. from the ebay photos it looks like it only covers 1/2 the grip, true?

Great Work!

I have the same steering wheel and have considered doing this, your installation tips are greatly appreciated.

Did you have the issue of the inner core of the steering wheel separating from the stock oem cover? On mine, it feels like the outer padded portion slides around a bit. It happened about 2-3 yrs ago, I remember hearing & feeling a slight pop.

Wondered if the new leather cover around wheel AND spokes would alleviate this slipping?

again, great work.

It looks so good, I'd be tempted to get the 3 spokes done too.
I doubt another kit would provide the leather wide enough for that, would prolly have to have an upholstery shop handle it...$$.
