Does anyone know how determine whether the transfer case is viscous or non-viscous?

Only kidding. 93-97 got the VC.

I don't know if there are any visual cues on the outside. Might need to pull it apart to see if there's a VC inside or not.

The VC tcases have a longer tail housing than the non-VC cases.

Do yourself a favor and do some searching around using the case model names, HF2A (non-viscous full time 4wd) and HF2AV (viscous full time AWD). Each has ups and downs, and VC enabled units have solutions for when the VC seizes.
