I wired my dual electric fans for high / low settings, using a GM Silverado wiring diagram.

Looks confusing at first, but if you break it down, circuit by circuit, it is a clever way to run the fans in series for low, and parallel in high. I also have it wired to activate the low circuit when the AC is on. I’m using GM fan motors so not sure it will work with aftermarket fans. ECM is set for stock fan temps, thermostat is 186. Hope this helps someone. BTW, I’ve tried stock radiators with both mechanical and electric fans, and finally went with a 4 row aftermarket Rad with electric fans. Works for me, your results may vary!

“We’re all Bozo’s on this bus!”

Cheers!

Looks pretty good! I do have two fan relays planned. Not sure about hi or lo speed. My current plan is to have 3 types of triggers, and really both fans on or off. They will be controlled by the PCM providing grounds to relays, so two triggers will be two temp set points, Derale recommends them both not coming on at the same time for current draw. So the temp settings will be with in +/- 5 degrees or so. The third trigger, will be an A/C high pressure, that will kick on one of the fans. That's my going in game plan thus far. We'll see how it works.

sorry, kind of off the topic. I'm about to LS swap my 93, I can't seem to figure out how my e lockers and center diff lock work after the swap using a 460le trans.
I'm sure its detailed somewhere on here, I can't seem to find it. any help appreciated

They work the same. The wiring to them is left alone.

thank you for this. I had a feeling I was overthinking it. So, basically if I can wire up an LS swap I'm in good shape?
Pretty much. Download the EWD book for your year 80. It will make it pretty easy.

What motor are you putting in there? I plan on doing a video overview series on it. Granted there are a lot of different ways to tackle each system, but I’ll show how I’m doing it and your method may vary, but it’ll be helpful to get the general idea and where connectors are and where I’m pulling signal wires from.

i have a gen 3 5.3. Donor vehicle I believe was an 01 1500 2wd. 4l60e trans. A video overview sounds great, would love to see it

Gen 3 will be great, does it have drive by cable throttle body or drive by wire? Did you get the harness and computer etc? Or are you doing an

it is a cable throttle body. I took everything, truck had 140k miles. I have harness, fuse block , computer... if it was under the hood I unplugged or unbolted.

That is absolutely perfect! I wouldn’t do anything to that motor. It’ll be fine. As far as comfort level, can you weld? Also do you live in an area that does emission testing? I have safety inspection but no emissions.

I have a millermatic 210, a hypotherm powermax 380 plasma, a 50 ton press, oxy/ acetylene torch, engine stand, 4 post lift, cherry picker, creality 3d printer, extremely fluent in fusion 360, degreed machinist.... although thats not what I do for a living. no emissions in SE WA. no safety inspections either. I'm fairly well set up I hope

I would swap the headgaskets as it likely has the graphite style that WILL leak unless they have already been changed to MLS. Otherwise, yeah, run it.

i hope so.
In the process of doing an identical swap with a similar shop set up. You’ll be surprised by how well it goes together. There are certain little things that people do differently like ecu placement, fuel lines, radiator set ups that will require some decision making. Use the hooker or summit headers that are listed on a few swaps. The CruiserMatt engine mount brackets are good, I had a couple issues with them but overall would recommend. Outside of engine mounts the only fabrication I’ve had to do so far is building the stand for the Tcase shifter and brackets for the transmission shift cable.

I’m working through the HI/LO bracket issue now and shift cable, it’s all I have left to do. Been under the truck most of the day trying to get the hi/lo shifter in place. Did anyone modify the length of the transfer case shifter rod or just mess with the position of the shifter? I’ve got it in place, need to put the console trim back on to make sure it’s not hitting anything.

I’m also working with the trail blazer shift cable 15785087. I think it’s still way too long, looping it back from the shifter on the passenger side over the t-case then fwd again. It loops all the way back over the gas tank. You could easily take 2 ft out of it. Not sure if you can cut or adjust these or not. Or did you leave a coil in it?
