pickup axle. period - there's really no discussion. The FJ60 may have a bigger R&P, but so what. You'll have to outboard your spring hangers... Go mini - thousands have.
 
Minitruck axle will definitely be the easiest. Then you will have the same size diff in both ends, if for some reason you needed to swap. And you only carry one trail spare diff with a minitruck axle instead of needing one for the cruiser axle and for the minitruck axle.

Another option would be to use a front axle from a FJ80. Steering arms become a bit of a headache but there are hysteer offerings out there for them. They use the same size diff as the minitrucks. You'll get a wider track which will increase stability and the birfs are HUGE! Send the stock FJ80 birfs to Bobby Long and you won't be breaking anything in that axle for quite a while.
 
I would say the mini truck axle out of an 84-85.
If you want a wider stance go Dana 60 up front
and a Dana 70 out back.
