I searched and found nothing on this, so maybe my vehicle is unique. If the vehicle is sitting still idling the gas gauge will creep up. Currently there is about 1/4 tank of gas (that's what it shows when you're driving), but if you stop and it's idling on perfectly flat ground it will creep up to showing just over 1/2 tank, when you drive off it'll settling back down, vehicle was never at an angle or anything, only has to do with driving or stopping, and doesn't jump up, just slowly creeps up, slowly settles down.

Anyone had this happen? It's not a big deal, but figured maybe someone had seen and fixed it before.

Thanks,
Mark Brodis

My 81 mini guage stayed at F until it was about 1/4 tank and then it would zoom back and forth between E and F with no ryme or reason until, almost empty and then it would crash to E
Never fixed it just lived lived with it
Good luck

Mark,

Does it move up if you just increase engine speed while not moving? If so, I would suspect a voltage or ground issue. If not, I think the float in the tank may be sticking.

Does your temp guage spike at the same time? There is a voltage regulator in the back of the guage cluster in FJ62"s that do this.. File the points and it fixes them.. Might be worth a looksie.. I like the magic appearing gas myself!
