Thanks Matt. Yes, she will make me sell it eventually. :)
For aftermarket radios and head units, they all require a wire that becomes hot when the lights are on. They dont dim with your rheostat or anything like that. Just pull off of any wire that is getting 12v when your headlights are on, but are off when the headlights are off.

@Yotajeff

Is this OEM wiring? I need help identifying the wiring so i can pull it or terminate it. I am wiring up an 5 channel amp and new single din stereo. I am trying to not chase my tail here.

1987 January

I need the following:
12v switched
Ground
Ignition
Illuminate/dimmer
12v&ground for ham radio

What’s represented in photo:
Grey brown stripe - constant 12v
Blue green stripe - ???

Did you ever identify each of these wires? I'm starting a radio install on my '87 and have the same question

Thanks for the link, but this isn't it! Here's what mine looks like. It has the same green wire as the post I just replied to, while this link has no green wire.

@Engineer8000
.
this is because you have a 1987 HJ61 ..

is this a 24V or 12V electrical system , specifically the Audio Plug your holding above ?

ignore the
connector plug blue color , it is NOT relevant here fyi ./..

confirm and verify using my example tech pics , show the face front and rear wires in-out sides clearly in photos below ...

this will determine which global all things 6# series audio set we are dealing with , and there more then a few out there ...

make sense ?
matt

Hey Matt

It's a 24v electrical system. You can see the plug here.

if you have a intact and complete oem audio / Radio plug going on here , what is it your trying to do or accomplish ?

you say above :

how come you don't just plug it in to the back of your radio like i show in my tech. photo above ?
or

are you taking the eazy-path to the After-Market Dark-Side ?

Yes, my OEM radio works fine. I'm installing an aftermarket radio. I daily drive this car and AM/FM only doesn't cut it.
