Is ther any common plaeces to start looking for leaks on a 85 4runner? I only had truck like 6 weeks but been noticing humid / old odor ...... figured it to be just older truck smell. Well I was trying to run some speaker wire and found the entire canvas matt underneath was soaked. I was so aggravated I took front and rear matts out and discarded. Went to work today front floor dry .... rained all day at work and now I have two identical sized puddles on front floor board under dash. Any ideas

Maybe the door seals, it might be leaking from the hvac inlet but I really dont know. Good thing there's drain plugs though. I'd go ahead and bed line or put some sort of rust prevention down on the floor when you can.

I'm gonna grizzly grip inside and out but just don't want to have electrical problems cus of leaks..... Not to mention stupid rust.

The windsheild trim does have a tendency to leak. I had my windsheild replaced and had all the gasket material or whatever replaced leak solved.

You might also check the intake for air underneathe the windsheild. There is supposed to be drain holes for the water but after 27 years they could be clogged with debris. I have never attempted to pull the cowling and all that apart, so i have no idea how to pull it apart. A haynes manual or a FSM might have the how to instructions.

I was affraid of that, the windshield that is. I was looking at that and seen where the previous owner did some sort of repair on one side. Well looks like Im gonna take that apart as well.

When I pulled the fenders off my cab, I found that they had rubbed the paint off in a couple of small spots right at the base of the windshield, at the very bottom of the A-pillars. Right where the fenders are very narrow at that bottom corner of the windshield. I had to glass and fill in a couple of small ~1/4" diameter holes. Turns out it was very slowly leaking, but it was so slow I didn't notice it. I'm sure that leak would have gotten gradually worse over time.

Haha , I just fixed a rust spot above passenger door in that same exact area. I'm gonna try and pull covers to windshield and look this weekend.
