Phares,
80 vs 100 = Trouble
Just kidding. I have had a 91, 92, 95 and 95 LX450. I have also had 3 99 100s and 1 2000 hundy. I switched to a 2000 because of VSC = vehicle skid control as no one can out drive a computer in an emergency and I was starting to drive children around. I purchased my 2000 7 years ago with 100k miles (it had all maintenance records and VIN stickers) and it now has 218k miles on the odometer, probably not exact as I have been running 285s (33s) since 100k. This is the longest I have owned any vehicle and do not plan to sell it.
The 100 just does everything really good and is a basically a jacked S class without the maintenance issues. Most folks call it a 4Runner. The 100 is the clark kent of the off road world.
It also just a bit larger than an 80 but not Tahoe big so the size is good. It is very wide and can hold 3 child seats side by side in the second row. The second also reclines so even thou the rear leg room is not the best, the reclined seat backs make it feel much larger.
It can seat 8 people. It has a tailgate for use at all events. Everybody wants to sit on the tailgate. This is also useful for moving large objects around, like a pickup truck.
I use it to tow, surf fish at Hatteras, take us snow skiing and 4 wheeling in Uwharrie (Just dickey bell but still fun).
It also drives really well and you can push it for even more fun.
The only mod you really need most of the time is tires with more traction. Also, A-TRAC (active traction control) on the 2000 and newer models is outstanding.
If I had to replace it, I would go with a 2007 without AHC.
Don'd forget about the LX470s. This basically triples the number of choices available. Lex out sold LC like 2 to 1.
The DT headers make a difference.
I could go on and on. I have consumed all the kool aid on the 100. ;<)
Let me know if you have any more questions.
