Most of the inserts had been caulked in, and they must've ripped them out the first go.

I hate to say it, but the replacement roof skin with out a sunroof is looking more and more appetizing.

Yikes that does not look good. You could plug them and line-x the roof in white...I think it would look cool.

That may he the only option, dependent upon how cleanly the sunroof delete goes.

Liking the all white (was first choice, with gray interior) but not sure how white liner would stay. May go "brown" to match the interior, but paint above the long, upper body line.

After pulling the running boards, and checking it out, I can't believe Toyota didn't put a cat protector on. They'd drag on a curb, it appears.

Cat delete and less obtrusive muffler may be in the future.

those cats are hanging down low. time for lift!!!!!

No doubt, and lifts in the planning stages.....if I can determine which way to go. It's time to make the decision regarding fender surgery, and it's not an easy one to make.

I think that's just part of the fun. As much as you want to find that perfect 80, they are 17+ years old. I'm happy with the one I picked up, but I'm in the same boat.

I'll be following your build for ideas. Looking good so far!

Have you posted pics, yet? Send what you got. if not, or post here.

I agree on the fun part. I knew there was no such thing as the "perfect 80", and knew I'd enjoy this process.

Seems that every mechanical replacement, prompts the "while I'm here, I might as well do this, too" dilemma, and has compounded into a huge pile of parts, with more coming, and have yet to make final suspension, wheel/tire decisions.

I'll say this much. If anyone is considering a 450 with intention of decladding, be prepared for the extra work. Personally, I'd prefer the holes over the plastic, though.

Considering the unplanned 1/2" holes in the roof and the impending rain, had little choice but to squeeze into the garage.

Hoping these two procreate. It'd be interesting to see the offspring.

Planning to strip the interior tomorrow, start prepping for paint and liner. Going to remove the third row seats and accessories permanently, if anyone's interested in.

I'll post up pics as soon as I have good ones. Sage 40th, 109k, brand new KM2's. She's a beauty, but like all needs the typical baseline. Funny, I feel like I got to know all of them. As soon as I saw your first pic I knew you got it from the realtor in MO. Glad to be done with the search and on with the fun.

You mentioned having Lexus do your work. Are you able to source your own OEM parts and have them do the work, or do they insist on you purchasing through them? I'm on the fence about just dropping mine off to have everything done. I don't have a relationship with this dealer and I'm pretty sure they'd bend me over on parts. I've got my garage cleaned up enough now to get the LC in, but I've got so much going on with a baby coming in June I wonder if it's worth it.

Look forward to seeing, and congrats on the score!

I completely changed direction on the initial mechanical and, though seeking experienced local assistance, intend on tackling myself.

I'm well out of my realm of current capability, but I was on FJC, too, and in keeping with Pirsig's Zenish maintenance philosophy, figured I had all the time in the world to self educate on the major mechanical, too.

"Sometimes, it's better to travel, than arrive."

Be seeing dealer, eventually, but not for anything major.

On the parts, I've hooked up with Onur (Beno) and have been on a weekly scheduled order plan for a few weeks. Have PS rebuild kit, 105 sector shaft and pitman arm, PS pump en route, now.

This coming week is axles, birfs, and all other necessary components. Following is window seals and minor electrical components. Never ends. Haha.

Picked up a leaky gearbox from a Mudder. Once it gets here, will be sending all to West Texas OffRoad for rebuild and porting.

Great looking Knights Armor 460! X2 on the offspring. V8 power and a solid axle with cooled seats, I'd buy one.

And electronic spotters, which is great considering my wife drives, and the 470 I traded in for had been "rubbed" on three of the four corners.

Free stuff, pay shipping and handling.

OEM Receiver, no harness

Spare tire frame

Rear seat belt assemblies, no bolts, PS has been cut and resewn. Probably not DOT approved.

Be willing to deal on the third row seats.

Edited: and the plastics and flares. I ripped them off, so they are what the are, but probably a local pick up, considering.

Truth in advertising, the "leaky" gear box showed today.

The UPS guy will hate me for life after this delivery, but I'm glad he was wearing brown, already.

Picked up from arcteryx, and many thanks for the prompt shipping.

Beno's package to arrive any day then I'll be sending the gear box, rebuild kit, and 105 components to WTO for rebuild and hydro porting, possibly ordering the Redneck Ram setup complete, since it appears to be more economical than other options.

Input on other hydro options?

Since the gearbox is being rebuilt, and prep work in advance of sending?

Check the rag joint at the input side, the seal at the firewall as well as the upper rag joint.

My intermediate shaft was very rusty when I did all this work and replaced that as well. Check hoses and fitting while you are in there.

The assumption they'd be the same from a 94 to a 97LX, I'll leave to you or someone in the know, but it just needs prepped and painted. Even found the plastic cap still in the box, in the PS cubby.

I gifted the Reese hitch the came on the FJC to an FJCF member in Austin, and if I remember correctly, UPS was $60. I can palletize and send another means, but if you'll reimburse shipping (or if near Tulsa, OK, can pick up) I'll get out this week.
