I’ve become a big fan of this.

What's inside?

Probably too much, but it’s pretty compact so I don't sweat it.

Common Toyota sizes in 1/4”, 3/8”, and 1/2” drive, extensions and adapters, screwdrivers, pliers, and probably some other stuff I’m forgetting.

Backside has the usual combination wrenches, a couple ratcheting wrenches, flare nut wrenches, and snap ring pliers.

I also have...

A smaller separate bag (not pictured) for electrical stuff.

Another very large bag (also not pictured) with big boy wrenches, hammers, pipe wrench, etc.

RD: Which Atlas46 tool bag is that above and if doing it over would you go with
the same bag or one of their others?

This is the one I have:

They also make one with detachable pouches, which I opted not to do because it seemed needlessly bulky. But I guess it’s more modular so there’s that if you really want to get the smaller details organized.

EDIT: If I were doing it again, I would still go with the same bag and change nothing. I like this one a lot and see no reason to change it.

I also realize a lot of my harbor freight garbage tools are visible in the pictures. I’ve never had a problem with the,, but maybe the nice wiha screwdrivers and other expensive tools make up for it?

Good to see the tool kit thread revived.

I carry two tools rolls permanently in the car, one with the regular gear such as a set of combo spanners, screwdrivers, pliers etc. The other has a full set of open ended spanners and a full set of ring spanners, I also carry a socket set, that is the every day kit.

Off road kit is waaaay OTT! :)

Dave

Does everyone have this as a "separate" kit from their garage tools, or do you pull and repack for each trip?

I have a full set of garage tools in addition to what I carry in the truck.

Just to test my preparedness however, I first attempt any repair or maintenance on the LX with only the tools I carry on-board. Not only does this point out the shortcomings of my on-board kit, it also continually refreshes my memory as to where "tool X" is stored in the vehicle. As I age, I suffer from CRS. Just because I know I have an offset 17mm box wrench for the knuckle studs in the truck..., I can't necessarily tell you where it is :).

The kit I carry in my 80 is my “home tools” which is why it’s a mish mash of nice and ghetto tools.

That said, now that I’m working at Kevin’s shop, there’s an abundance of tools there so I find myself getting into my personal stuff less frequently.
