I will have 8 tailgate storage lids for sale in the next 2 weeks.
Made of 3/16" aluminum all around, you can put a coating on it or leave it raw as I have.
I will be selling these in kit form, you will have the cut out, mounting holes pre-drilled.
I will provide links to all the hardware needed to complete the project. I may sell complete kits upon request.

Kit includes: Storage lid cut out, mounting holes pre drilled, latch stopper.
Does not include hardware, hinge or latch.

What you will need for the kit:
Some fab skills
File to smooth the edges or 45* router bit, it's sharp!
Counter sink bit for flush finish or use button head bolts.
Ability to weld aluminum hinge to the lid or drill holes to bolt it down.
Jig saw or reciprocating saw to cut the tailgate.

$530 Shipped.
Pick up in Garden Grove or Downtown LA

Is the kit coming with the cutting template where I need to cut the lid ?

You will trace the inside of the outer part to cut, it's designed to be simple.
Please feel free to ask questions.

The kit is already predrilled for attaching to the lid right ? Are there other options for the hinge ? Hopefully I will store there stuff which I hope will never need so I will open it just in case of emergency.

Yes sir it comes pre drilled, hinge is either drilled or weld. I may consider another option.

It would be great if you put together kit for poor guys like me :) No hinges , no latches . Something base.

LOL you realize this is like 1/3 rd the cost of the next best option right? I'd say for the money it isn't worth sourcing the hardware separately, this is a effing steal at this price and may just make me forgo the boat hatch option!

@socallove
Does the tailgate flex more with this installed? Do you feel the strength of the tailgate is compromised? This is a GREAT price for what you are offering. I am definitely interested. I am curious about the tailgates integrity as my stock (non-modified) tailgate cracked right in the middle.

Thanks

I'm in. Do you know roughly how much shipping will be cross country?

I can't recall exactly how much for shipping, but I had someone order from the east coast, it was roughly $40 for shipping.

I'm interested in a kit. Do those latch handles clank ?

The latch handles do clank, you can cut a piece of nylon tubing to put over it, I used duct tape temporarily for about 1.5 years now. Hahaha

I have received deposits from a couple of people, if you are interested please pm me. I'm commencing work as of rOught now

I'm not selling a Complete DIY kit but it can be put together with everything you need, nuts, bolts, hinge, latches, and latch stopper. It would probably cost ~ $330, I'm working on three lids right now, can't provide exact price.

I'm going to make this easy, I will provide the hardware and latches, there will only be a complete DIY kit. It will have everything you need so you don't have to source parts.
