I'm still enjoying the ride, Joey. Don't mind being a part of the R&D when there's clear communication, and it has been pretty crystal so far.

Appreciate it. I'm still trying as hard as I can to push this all through. Its frustrating when everyone down the line makes mistakes...myself included. Yes it is an R&D effort but still...

Hang in there, it will all work out. You're a one man shop making custom one-off parts for a 20 year old vehicle...there are going to be hiccups. I don't mind waiting for the lockbox. To be honest, the only part of the delay that really bothers me is that we don't get to see your other cool ideas until this one is done.

Yeah I had to draw the line somewhere. I can't take people's money and have nothing to show you guys for it. One at a time ;)

On the positive side of things...going back to the quick release for the Medeco key that a bunch of you had suggestions about, well I finally got all of my random orders in. Out of about 40 different disconnects that I could hunt down and get delivered, here are the 7 that I have narrowed them down to to see what you all think. You'll notice they are all spring lock type, I immediately gravitated to these since I felt these were compact, yet light, yet strong enough to make me happy carrying them on my key ring. Let me know your thoughts.

Oooooo! Maybe I can afford some of those! I like B & G

I like the way F looks. Small and compact and seems like it would be least likely to catch on a pocket based on the overhang and angled cut around the opening.

So I was looking at the pics, and thought B,E,and G. Then you show that your favs are the same. I liked F, but it looks a bit shallow and small.

In other news, how did your testicles taste in the back of your throat when they shrank up so far after no guns fit? I, for one, appreciate the testing, and will inquire how to change my order to the Scout box from the Mini when that information is available.

Great minds ;)

You have no idea. I felt like sitting down and having a good cry. :crybaby:
But that was the price to pay since the inside dimensions of these consoles is NOT universal. There are small differences and not from the production side. Its all related to heat and direct sunlight. So I needed to make changes to be sure it would fit all 80 Series consoles. Sure enough, it boned me. BUT hopefully not everyone wanted a tall LockBox because they just wanted something for the basics. Its going to be a very expensive oversight. Is what it is.

I need to still work that all out. :(

Since I now have a 2nd 80, I am going to have to start doubling up on some orders. Remind me, are the interior console dimensions of a 92 the the same as a 97. If so, I will be down for 1 scout box in addition to the originally designed smaller box.

As far as key disconnects go, I personally like the look of G the most, but from a functional stand point you will want to be able to remove the key single handed. All of these with the exception of E, have a closed loop that will either have to be the end attached to the primary key ring, or will have to have a 2nd small key ring that is only for the lockbox key. If you put that hole on the main key ring, I would imagine trying to remove the key becomes a two handed affair. If you add a small ring for the lockbox key to hang off of, then you could easily remove single handedly. Option E would not require a second smaller ring to still be able to remove single handedly.

I see the "hiccup" as opportunity for additional choices. Btw did SW shield fit? I am thinking most sub compact would fit.

Exactly, trying to make a lemon drop martini out of this lemon :P

Bring your collection over, lets see what fits.

92 is the cutoff. Take a look at you consoles, if they are identical (except for the lid) then both with work.

My plan is to include a ring with the quick release. I have a few that I've been playing with.

I have a couple sub-compacts I can measure tonight if it helps.

A & G are my favorites. I've always liked the swivels. For my money it just needs to contain a kimber ultra carry in .45 or a Glock 27 which it sounds like both can do if I'm understanding correctly. Other than that it'll just be my 6 plus going in there.

I like the larger Scout version since I don't own any sub compacts, it would also help me keep the lower half of the console uncluttered if I have less height to fill up on top of the box.
Either F & G for the quick release key chain.
