Most annoying thing with grease in the swivel hubs is that if the inner axle seals leak in any way for any reason (dud seals, axle shafts slightly bent, seat for axle seal damaged, etc.) it's a PITA job because of all the mess.
Also remember the swivel hubs are *not* meant to be sealed! They're an 'open' containment which is why it's important to keep the grease checked but also important to renew the swivel ball wipers every so often as they're the 'defence' against muck getting inside the swivel hubs.
