1996, 188k miles. Stock motor, exhaust. I’ve replaced the VSV, EGR and that other part (can’t remember the name). CEL still on. Indicates P401 code I believe which is an EGR related code. Then replaced the EGR temp sensor as the mechanic said he was getting erratic readings. CEL still on. I don’t want to keep throwing parts at it but want it fixed. Any hunches on what we should also check?
 
That horse has been beat to death around here....do some searching and read until you're blue in the face. Very often, its a plugged port through the intake manifold.

Here's a link to a thread that's 9 pages long that has lots of photos that should help you if you decide not to do the simple, and very cost effective solution that Tools R Us suggested to you above.
 
So is the code just that? A code that doesn’t cause any issue on how the car performs? If so a small piece of electrical tape across the dash is next.
