I have a 100, but I'd much rather bring my 80. Is that allowed? I only ask because I have tons of keep friends, and because I drive a Toyota, I don't get invited to a lot of their get-togethers.

Call ahead to campgrounds in the area. Most are booked up through August. If you find a boondock site you can always shower at Ouray hot springs. Even USFS campgrounds fill up this time of year.
I'll second that. I spent the weekend at a FS campground north of Vallecito Lake about 1/2 way between Durango and Pagosa Springs. It was FULL!

HIH 1-3 we were lucky if anybody had cold beer and a camp chair. Quite the evolution!! This kind of support is what makes HIH work. Great work @paflytyer !
We had a waterbed at HIH3. At least that's what it felt like with my tent in a swamp.

At this time, this is a 100 Series event that was sold out a few months ago. You can definitely go to Silverton when we are all there and say hello, but the camp, scheduled stuff, is for the signed up folks. Thx for understanding.

Are there electrical hookups at the campsite or do I need to bring the generator to keep the batteries on the trailer charged?

What, no solar panel?

@paflytyer - As long as the thread is, and with camping questions/answers scattered about the 47 pages, could you update the first post regarding the camping details with a little info on primitive, no hookups, potable water availability, etc.?

I was doing a google fly over on the Kendal Mountain Rec area. Pretty cool spot.

If you care to check out the surroundings of the camping area you can do a 360 walk around here: Google Maps

Very cool! Thanks for sharing!

Here are photos of the camp area and lodge building. There is water available from the lodge building (I think).

So who is rolling out from Denver on Wednesday? @COGerding and I will be hitting it early since last year we got stuck twice on 285 with road closures due to construction and we didn't arrive in Silverton until late.

Just a heads up, there is construction right at the base of the east side of Blue Mesa on 50- it's unpaved and one lane for about 2 miles while they're working on it. I made the drive last week, and that was the only spot with construction between Denver and Silverton. Some people told me they got stuck there for about 30 minutes, or so, but I was lucky enough to not get stopped. I left super early on Sunday to come home, and it was two lanes at that time.

Showers, shelter and a place to hang above the mud. Friggin luxury.

And ballroom dancing!

We are staying downtown Tuesday night and aiming to leave Wednesday morning in time to have an enjoyable drive down and make it to happy hour in time.

@paflytyer and I take grief over it raining too much, then that it's too sunny, and now the inside gathering spot is off........
