Also, if you happen to take the route through Kansas City and need a stop shoot me a PM and I can show you some real barbecue

That would be sweet! If we push a 12 hour day on Monday, we'll end there for dinner Monday night so I might take you up on your offer.

Leave Columbus on Monday the 24th and will push into KS, somewhere close to Salina would be great (~12 hours of driving). Day 2, get to Gunnison CO (~10 hours driving), have dinner at Garlic Mike's and see a few friends. To give the kids a break, I think we'll go rafting Wednesday morning then do the final ~3 hour leg to Silverton after lunch.

Thanks - this is very helpful as we'll be traveling through Columbus on Monday. Plan right now is to make it to the KOA in Thompson, OH Sunday. Then, maybe a big push on Monday to Kansas City. Then need to figure out a good place to stay Tuesday.

Consider Salida, CO or Buena Vista, CO if you think another 10-11hr day out of KC would be okay. Salida has some decent hotels and BV has a KOA as well as a few other camping options. Otherwise, your best bet would be anywhere along the front range. I'd love to caravan (you will be passing my home town through KS) to Silverton, but I'll be in the Salida, CO area on Monday visiting family.

Awesome, just let me know! I have a fenced backyard and an airedale if your pup will need to stretch his legs and run around a bit. I figure if I can't actually make it to HIH this year that I could at least help some people out on their trek there.

I agree with most, a big push the 1st day is best. After that, it's harder to maintain as the miles tick by. On my way home last year I did Denver to Michigan City, Indiana the first day, 1100 miles. Then the next day I just had 650 home to PA. For me it made the whole thing easier, and I did it all alone.

Quick reminder to folks that might be eyeballing KISS Drawers that I am coming to HIH and providing free delivery to the event.

I have 1 customer confirmed, hoping to have 2nd or 3rd in order to justify a trailer instead of on the rack.

This is a cool deal for anyone thinking about doing drawers. And you could even put them together at camp with the designer of the system, if you desired. Can't think of a better place to bolt some parts together than in Silverton, CO.

I'm looking to break up my 31 hour drive a little. Does anyone have a preference for traveling through Nebraska on I80 vs. Kansas on I70?

Nebraska. There's a cool military vehicle museum in Lexington, NE worth checking out on the north side of 80. Exit 237 IIRC. There's a few pieces of armor outside and a helicopter. Inside has all the goodies.

If you do take I-80, another stop for a bite to eat is in Paxton, between North Platte and Ogalala. Head north 1 mile off of the interstate and hit Ole's Big Game Steak house, especially if you have kids with you. The food is average , but they have quite a collection of animal and fish mounts that the original owner bagged from around the world.

If you end up going I-70, check out Monument Rocks in Kansas, limestone formations in the middle of nowhere. We missed an opportunity to visit it last year on our trip from Montana to Dallas due to timing. Definitely a place I'm going to try to visit the next time I'm in the area.

Got the trail singup email. I can only find the "featured trails" descriptions on the home page. Is there a full listing of trails and activities we can preview before getting the invitation for signups? I'm heading off to Scout camp for a week on Sunday morning and don't want to leave it completely up to my wife to pick our trails. I also don't want to wait a week to sign up.
