Looking for a restorable/original 77-78 Mustard FJ40 to begin a restoration project to bone stock. Rust ok, the more complete and original the better.

@abaxter0 I think this one is pretty solid as well but I think he has left out some necessary close up pics(rust issues and such) He’s had it posted on Craigslist for probably about 6 months now and just lowered the price $500 from the previous post. Good looking and lots there but a little steep I think until it’s sold!

I spoke with the individual in the Craigslist posting you provided. Kind and easy to chat with, but has only had the cruiser just over a year.

So not much is known on the history and they likely paid a premium for it and are trying to not take a hit.

10 years ago, the availability of 5-10k projects was buyers choice. Now it’s clearly a sellers market. 70k v8 conversions and anything resembling either a “survivor “ or a restoration will require one arm and one leg.

Will continue the hunt. I have a decent budget and will travel/pay for shipping.

1978 Toyota Land Cruiser

I've personally looked this one over, driven it, and spoken to the guy who is selling it. I kid you not when I say it's the real deal. It's got a lot of nice upgrades and is one of the cleanest ones I've seen in a while. I almost bought it myself but the buyer on my Jeep flaked so I couldn't pull the trigger.

The engine is the original 2F and has been modded somewhat as it's got more power than any 2F i've ever driven. It almost feels like it's fuel injected but it's got the original carb. It started right up and ran great. Looked it over for rust, only stuff I could see was some bubbling on the driver's door. Rear sill and quarter panels looked good. Some good background on it too the thing was built by an local LC guru, and honestly the quality of the work that I saw go into it and how nice it drove I believe it.

Price is pretty good, it has a hardtop and some other goodies that go with it.

This is perfect! A 1976, but exactly what I was looking for. I just put a deposit down on a 78 mustard fj40 however.
