Considering an out of the box paint options for a re-shoot of "Tenzing" or "Zig" for those of you in a hurry. I often find my self frittering away the time that I could be doing something useful. So today, I thought I would wile away the afternoon in search of a worthy color to re-shoot my Land Cruiser (next winter). If you recall from a previous post ole' Zig wore blue, Sky blue to be exact. Now sporting a lack luster coat of Dune Beige acrylic enamel (paint is lackluster not the color), Zig needs some news clothes!!! OLive green? Olive Brown? (tomato / tooomatoe), Sky Blue? Keep the Dune Beige? Well, I may go out of the box on this one..Still going to keep it in the "Family". Given' a real hard think toward "Cavalry Blue", 2013 FJC Cavalry Blue"...Cavalry blue has a subtle art deco appeal, muted not too flashy or indignant.....I know some of you are going to suggest I put down the hooka pipe and slowly back away and I'll get howls of rage  for the FJC pic on the Fj40 thread but it is worth a look . Cavalry Blue-Cygnus White-Black trim. It's growing on me...... Thoughts from the distinguished forum??

Lol...You see, I am a product of WV public education...So, the occasional spelling faux pas is just a matter of time!!! Indeed sir, it is Cavalry. BUT-ain't it cool. I'm diggen' it. Local dealer had a 13 FJC on the lot. It popped! As of now Cavalry Blue - 1 / All Challengers - 0

Uh , maybe a bit too pastel for a brutus like a 40 series ? It's looks fine on the pastel-based 4Runner/Taco platformed knockoff Kalifornia Design Studio idiot-magnet , but not on a Land Cruiser . Different animal .
Stick to the original Sky or something .
Rant off , now I gotta go find the top of my head again ...

I think it would look good on a 40. The Spring Green stock color is very pastelish, so I don't think this blue is way out of line. I say go for it!

And nice work so far.

Hey Sarge I appreciate your unbiased, straight forward no nonsense response. I would expect nothing less from a member of the thin "red and gold line"...."Brutus", now that's a name for Land Cruiser....

Break Break

Crash - I like the out of the box analysis...That spring green works and is a classic..I missed an opportunity by two hours to own one...Non-conformist, speaks volumes. Just owning one of these jewels says it all....

Cavalry Blue - 2 / All Challengers - 1

Keep em' coming!!:bounce:

Some of the new plumbing for “Festus“ The Mule. Found a steal on the high temp industrial silicon hose. Anyone running anything similar (REF high temp silicon hose)? Using stainless silicon hose clamps. New three row aluminum radiator and water pump. Pump is mounted. Waiting on radiator support and shroud before I can finish up the plumbing.

I have an aluminum radiator similar to that one, they seem to be very fragile, (note the aluminum). I am actually taking my original 74 radiator in to a shop today to see if we can bring it back to life. <-----Also the same one that may have started my problems to begin with. I have a few pinholes that have grown out of the AL radiator, and I hear the same complaint from a friend in WV with an AL also. Just some intel for you.

Thanks for the intel. Hmmm, I ran aluminum in a couple corvette projects with very good success.....Naturally assumed (you know what that means) it would translate to a Land Cruiser. Let me do some digging around to see if I can further develop my IPB ;)....

I have been running mine for at least two years now, works great, but over time I think they seem to develop small cracks and pinholes in the fins. Or maybe I just got a crappy radiator...................

The Cavalry Blue would look nice, and it wouldn't be like any other 40, but personally Dune Beige is still my all-time favorite Cruiser color.

Hey 1911 - Thanks for the input!! I am going to put you down for 1 each ..

Ole' Zig is Dune Beige now, and no doubt it is a classic Land Cruiser color. Sarge is going to start lobbing mortar rounds on me after I say this but "I do like the Blue"!!:D

Looks like it was time to change some of the old gas lines out..I don't know how the engine was getting any fuel. Lines disintegrated as I removed them...Example of new lines and stainless clamps to be added. Changing out all the rubber lines/hoses (Fuel/Radiator/vacuum).

Anyone having issues with their aftermarket Champion Aluminum Radiator??
