Truck was running earlier, went to move it and it just clicks once. Tried to jump it with zero success, just the one click continued. Lights work but it won't even try to turnover. I have been working around the dash and steering wheel as I had to replace the tachometer. Any ideas would be helpful in troubleshooting once the rain stops.

think its not big deal..
-Check your battery cable.
-Install a bypass line from battery to starter solenoid.

so you can differentiate if it is a current or starter motor problem

If the battery is charged or hooked up to a jump, check the battery connections and then hit the starter with a block of wood.

Sounds like starter to me. Replace or rebuild. I have rebuilt mine twice and it's not difficult.
I was thinking that at first, but without being connected to another car there is no power now. I don't think the starter would cause that.

Do your lights dim when on while turning it over? It may be the starter, and check voltage there.

On an old pickup, you could gently tap on the starter with a hammer while starting to get it to catch. That got me out of a bind once.

It may also be a fusible link?

Update 2: After the rain stopped I unplugged the battery, half assed wiped of the terminals and reattached. Started right up. Could there be some short or any reason logical reason for this to happen? It was completely dead without a jump, with a jump I had lights and whatnot. Unhooked it and hooked it back up starts with no issues.

yes, having crap build up on the terminals increases the resistance similar to a bad earth. next time you can check if its a bad earth by using jumper cables to connect the negative cable to a metal surface (frame, crossmember, or similar).

You can still have a failing starter, solenoid, relay, connection elsewhere that the change in current by switching the battery on/off resolved. Of course, start with cleaned and greased battery contacts and clean ground connections.

Well, I have a different engine, and I chased my tail for a while on what seems like a similar sounding problem. The ground wire on the starter was frayed enough that the starter wouldn't crank. All of the normal dash lights illuminated with the key in the Start & Run position, but the starter did not crank. Here is a photo of the wire in question that I had to replace.

Was there a part # for this? Or even what it’s called?? I’m having similar issues and can put it down to ignition to the starter..
