Taking apart a 1974 seat frame for painting/restoration.

Is there a trick to separating the upper and lower slider halves underneath the seats?

Looks like there is a "stop" screw on the front and back of each slider rail to keep the seat from going too far in either direction. However, it still doesn't want to slide out once those are removed so I was wondering if there was a trick to it.

Also is there a trick, other than brute force, to remove the plastic adjustment lever handle under the driver's seat?

Looks like it may just slide off but it's on REALLY good and I certainly don't want to damage it.

Thanks!
