For sale 1973 fj40 Must see. I’m the Third owner, the truck was purchased in Truckee Ca. Then went to red river or angel fire NM. The second owner purchased in NM a took it to waco tx. I bought the truck in 2008 and drove until 2012. I parked it and was going to start making some upgrades. I rebuilt the front end with mini truck knuckles and disks. I moved the alternator and bought the power steering mounting brackets from Georg, but I haven’t installed it. Brackets and power steering box and pump go with. The seats are from some donor vehicle. I have the factory seat mount, but didn’t like the way the seats were installed, so I was going to go back to stock. That was on the to do list.
Since it has been sitting in my barn since 2012 it needs some love. I know the master cylinder and probably the power booster needs to be replaced ( some brake fluid was leaking inside the truck) also the clutch slave and maybe the clutch master. Engine cranks and runs good carb needs some adjustments.

I’m 63 years old, while this 40 has been sitting in my barn collecting dust we have had a few things happen that has changed our priorities, so I hope someone will purchase and give the 40 the attention it deserves.

I’m asking 9k got clean title.
I will try to answer any questions.
Serious inquires please.

Well I have a neighbor that’s a mini truck guy, but he visits mud from time to time. He told that I needed to remove the alum. Plate so we could see what shape the rear quarters are in. Well he probably regrets that suggestion because I had him help remove plate. First photos driver side

Well as you can see the quarters and sill will need some work. I figured that would be the case because of the plate, I was upset that the wheel opening had been cut.

Thanks for looking, if there is anything else I need to do to make sure this truck is properly presented please let me know.

I was going post a couple of videos of the frame and engine running, but I guess I don’t have that level of membership.

I have received a couple of PM, but have not received any feedback.
I’m I completely out of the ballpark on price??? What needs to be done to make it saleable.
Your constructive thoughts would be appreciated.

Since nobody else is chiming in, I will provide some feedback, but I am definitely no expert.

To me, 9K for a non-running truck that needs body work is pricey for this crowd. It's good that you took the diamond plate off the rear quarters. I think the frame looks good and the engines tend to be tough, so it may fire up without too much work.

GLWS!

I tend to agree with Ocho77. I think maybe if you get some things sorted out you might attract more buyers, Or dont sort things out and lower your price. Im in the process of learning about 40's and would like to get one here in the near future. Good Luck Sir.

Thanks for the input, the sill and quarters will need some work. The engine starts and runs. The frame is very clean.
I shot some video, but i get a error message when I tried to post. Mud requires you to post a price,so that is just a starting point.
Thank again...

Thanks Scwill. I’m sure things will work out. I was hoping to get this truck into the hands of someone that will keep it going.

It will happen my man. Its a sweet looking 40, i like it. It will get sold if youre open to offers, this will make someone very happy.

You aren't far off on pricing, but in my opinion, as it sits, to sell this you will need to be closer to $6500-8000. If you find the right buyer you may get a little more. It definitely looks solid and the hard top / doors add value. Rust isn't bad at all. I would invest another $500 to get it running and driving, clean it up, and market a bit more. Invest that money and your return will double. If your 40 was a driver (still needing regular work like all 40s need, but was able to go down the road on it's own safely) I'd say $8-9k is very fair.

Just my thoughts. Good luck. I hope someone picks this up that will fix it and drive it.... not try to flip it for a ton of money....
