That one is not mine, but it's essentially the same setup I have.

Nothing special. Cheap works fine because it's not really moving all that much.

If you took the top shifter plate off, I'd say the forks are not aligned properly.

so I have a truck top and a full top with out a fiberglass top fenders are more angular than rounded now like in the truck top pic. The bed is 4'. Anyone have problems with nv4500 not going into gear I'm still working on that :/ any suggestions on drive shafts?

I got a local shop working on the drive shafts, got it started, and its vapor locked probably bad mechanical fuel pump? I have fuel to the pump. It will start and run for about 2-3 seconds with pouring gas down the carb :) Did that for about an hour and a half, used an extra electric pump trying to get the fuel to go to the carb from the pump. Still didn't work. The transmission still wont go into gear but I did get the top on. It has little tabs that are hard to see and line up.

Anyone have any ideas to get the nv4500 to shift?? I adjusted the clutch fork pretty far back, Is this just a new clutch thing and I need to let out the clutch after it runs good ?? that just sounds like a bad idea to me.

ya I like the aqualoo tub like you did in your build but I think mine is 4 in longer behind the wheel and like 7 in shorter behind the door? That stretch will work out well which reminds me I need to post pics of the inside of the bed since I have built in speaker boxes there... and I need to post pictures of my storage box/cooler, very cool build though kcustom73. gotta put in driveshafts tomorrow if I get the transmission shiftin ( ill try a new rod on the slave before I pull it)... crossing my fingers

Been awhile since an update I got the bulk of the body work done. It is usable now and can no longer leave the keys in it. I just painted it and I am putting it back together. I did get the transmission sorted out it was binding in the linkage on the top plate. seems to be a thing with nv4500 when they sit for a long time...

I drove it home from the shop to be inspected got a small punch-list. And some incidental damage! power steering pump seized up and broke a belt. They wanted me to fix the steering shaft to get it further away from the motor. I got about 1/8 clearance in the shaft and header, It does kinda suck because It vibrates the steering wheel pretty bad. And I am quite confused after driving it out of the neighborhood it acted like a dog and was topping out at like 35. which it really shouldn't ?? how fast do you guys go with a nv4500 and bigblock? I know its a two ton motor that I have so its no race engine but Id expect to be able to go 65mph in overdrive at least! maybe the TC is in low?

Yup, t-case is in low range. With 3.73 gears and 37" tires, I hit 70mph well before 2000rpm with my NV4500.

It surprisingly is in high 2! The tcase shifted into low is even slower... I have normal function in low gear then 1st then in second it tops out on speed? Seems like there's no get up and go!!?! When I try to get it to go faster the whole fj shakes, seems like its under the floorboards but can't tell if it's suspension related. I've heard of death wobble but it shouldn't be so limited in speed if it were Death wobble?

I can shift thru the gears but seems like it is in neutral but stays at same speed, idk why I threw out the suspension thing but I really don't think fj40 axles with arb locker would make it suck this bad, tcase doesn't seem to be the problem. Should the transmission be shimmed ? U joints? Just don't want to do trip to they transmission shop unless i have to...

366 big block with a hodge-podge of parts. Ummm, I'd start with the basics (fuel, timing, etc); but once you're beyond that personally I'd find a 454 short block for $500 and swap everything from the 366. those motors have torque, lots of torque (not as much as a 454, but a lot) and a really small bore (3.935 inches - compare to a 302 that has a 4.0 bore). If everything else checks out, I'd start thinking about valve shrouding and the fact that the 4 ring-per-cylinder pistons might be causing you issues.... which, is highly, highly unlikely - start from the top - be sure all else is good.
Those are great school bus motors but ... well, you already know :(

You have something F***ed up in the transmission. 4th and 5th are not engaging, does reverse work?
