‘69 FJ40 Rear axle problem (1 Viewer)

With the truck on jack stands: If I turn the rear drive shaft either way it does not turn the left rear wheel, only the right. If I rotate the left tire either direction, it will rotate the drive shaft. What is broken?

I think that's more or less a normal open differential operation. Drain the oil and see how much metal is stuck to the magnet in the plug.
