That funky, yellow blob is a purely southern accessory. It is the remnants of Dirt Dobber Nest that I knocked of prior to taking the picture.

What I see in that photo is the funky yellow blob. I zoomed in but still can’t get a good look. Could that be a shoddy crack repair?

I think that is sealant around the heatflapper pivot.

Ahm., nevermind. I get dirtdobbers here too, they are actually like a mud wasp.

Cracked solder joints in the ECM was the cause of the frustrating intermittent idle issue and running rich. With the truck being able to idle, setting the timing correctly cured the backfire on deceleration. Having the fuel decel and idle cut systems functioning randomly was maddening.
