x2 Jason let me know if I need to act in some fashion to still be in on this....

Tailgate lids ship to me in the morning. They didn't get worked on last Saturday...

I'll get things finished and cleaned up and shipped.

ALL TAILGATE LIDS HAVE SHIPPED.

I'll PM everyone with their tracking # sometime this afternoon. There are 53 of you... so, a couple hours and I'll have everyone updated.

Thank you all for your order and patience. I polished everyone's lid as well. I know some of you are going to paint/powder etc.. but, just a small thank you.

I'm still waiting on the 1/4 storage panels and 1/4 panel blanks. I'll get these out as soon as they arrive.

Nice work Jason. You using Solidworks?

Thanks,

I use SW for my less intricate parts. The laser cutter uses a 3D scanner (Gerber..IIRC) to scan in more difficult assemblies I send them. Then it is transferred to another software that isn't very compatible with SW.

I'm mediocre at best. What takes me a weekend to design... My design guy can usually recreate in about 30 min... I'm getting better, but its like golf to me. The more you play the better you get. BUT, as soon as you quit for a bit everything goes to pot..

Newest for me is the 60 steering skid.

I just installed Jason's lid in my '84 FJ60. When I receive the item it was far more robust that I had imagined it would be. I was very impressed by the quality of the construction. The installation was fairly easy you can see in the image below how the measurements progressed. A good angle grinder with a cutting disc made short work of the sheet metal and cross braces. I cleaned everything up with my grinding disc. Then it was just a matter of test fitting, grinding, test fitting grinding, etc... I followed Jason's advice of installing all the bolts, then tightening everything down in a cross pattern (like cylinder head bolts) to avoid warping the metal. All told it took about an hour and the results are fantastic. Because the lid is so overbuilt, the structure of the tailgate now feels more solid. I was concerned that taking the cross braces out would be an issue, but it certainly feels far more sturdy then before when you try to bend or warp the metal. I gave it a good sit test and my daughter gave it the kid jump test and, again, it felt very solid.

As far as extra storage space, it doesn't give much extra room. I currently have my snatch strap, four ratchet straps, and three small bags of spare bolts and tools. My main tool kit won't fit (see pics). I still have extra space and I'm thinking it's just a matter of rearranging things and maybe streamlining my tools. I may still pull it out and paint it, but I was so impressed with the machining on the aluminum, I wanted to show it off.

All in all, I couldn't be happier. It was money well spent.

Do the quarter panels fit both FJ60 and FJ62? I assume they're the same but don't know for sure. I might be interested in a set of quarters.

Do you have any more of these tailgate and quarter panel sets? If so, how much?

I only have one 60 tailgate remaining and it is backordered when the quarter panels arrive in approx 2 weeks.

The front tips have to be cut off, but work fine.

Sorry, I really should have been more clear...I'm looking for quarters for a 1988 FJ62. Would I need to trim the tips to fit the FJ62?
