Hi 40's cruiserheads,

I'm usually in a much smaller and maybe weirder section of cruiserdom, the 60 series threads but my buddy has a 67 FJ40 and is trying to get ready for CM09, he asked me a question, that I will now ask you.

He has the pre-68 axles (as he tells it) and can't put a locker in the rear as a result (different carrier?...)

what's the best way to get a locker in the back diff?

Switch out axlehousings/rear diff as one? get one off a scrapper? switch out thirds with a post 68 model?

Set me straight, oh gurus of the 2door

A whole hour huh?

You folks do not know what it is like to wait for information....

Get a 1968 and later model center section and remove the axle side gears and install them into your existing differential, or purchase a valu-lok and then swap in later rear axle shafts from another 1968 and later 40 series, and call it good.

Yes, it really is that simple.

:meh:

:p

I just thought folks would be all over this one...

Thanks Poser,

I will tell him, He wants to do Hell's Revenge with us on Sat., just has to solve the locker issue.

By valu-lok I assume you mean Aussie or Lockright that replaces the spiders (or whatever is in pre68) anyway? Then axleshafts for the correct spline?
