1. Is an ICON lift kit designed for 5th gen compatible with GX460.... Im almost certain but would like confirmation.
2. Are upper control arms necessary for a 3" lift?
3. Is a diff. Drop required?

Looking at purchasing a used kit off a 4runner.

Thx!

1. It will fit. I’ve installed it in my GX
2. To get correct caster after the lift, yes you’ll need UCAs.
3. No. I’ve installed the icon coil-overs and don’t have a diff drop installed.

I've posted some pics here of my install.

1. It will fit but from what I understand the GX is heavier. Are the 4runner spring rates compatible? What about the shock valving?
2. What @KJ6IRM said.
3. No, I have a 3" lift on my GX and did not require a diff drop.

$1000 CND for used ICON stage 2 extra travel fronts and rear shocks only. 8000 kms. Opinion? It might cost ne $400 for the rear coils seperate so $1400 total. Minimun $500 savings

The rear 2” lift springs on the GX are a bit soft. I plan on upgrading the rear springs to the Icon over landing springs. The front springs on the coil-overs seem to be fine. But I don’t have any bumpers installed. You’d probably want to go with the 700lbs springs if you plan to install a front bumper. The valving seems to by fine, I do have the Icons with the CDC and I’ve left them on the softest settings. I take up the rear shocks to 3 out of 10 when I’m fully loaded.

ICON stage 2 extra travel
That’s a pretty good price! With the extended travel front shocks you’ll need the UCAs. That is a requirement according to Icon. I think you’ll damage the ball joints on the stock UCAs with the extended version on the front coil-overs.

Like the others have said, get UCA's, don't skimp. No diff drop needed. I'd personally recommend other brands over Icon, but that's just me. Make sure the savings still put you ahead after getting the proper springs, otherwise I'd buy a new kit with the proper specs for your vehicle.
