Here could possibly be an interesting development for '20-'23 owners

This is interesting, and the first time I've seen this mentioned anywhere. Hopefully someone else with the know how can make this work. Not going with a Luxury on my 23' is the only regret that I've had since purchase simply due to the lack of CC/MTS.

Man it sure would be nice to have this solved. Would really love to have a sand mode. But also having the KDSS light on at all times kind of blows.

I feel your pain brother. Been living with the AFS light on for 5 years now.
And ever since I had to replace my ECU, my rear air suspension light is on now too.

I did 2019 Crawl Control using a custom 4 button small dual switch from CH4X4 to adjust speeds and the downhill assist switch to enable/disable.

You need wires about 36 inches long to reach the spot above the center lock switch.

Good work. I haven't seen many undertake the crawl mod with their own switch

Mine is a 2019 and felt too nice to drill holes for normal round momentary button switches.

The switch was this one. CH4X4 Custom Laser-Etched Small Dual Push Switches for Toyota – CH4X4 Industries - https://ch4x4.com/product/ch4x4-custom-laser-etched-small-dual-push-switches-for-toyota/?

I was originally going to use a dual momentary rocker switch, but they were like $15 + shipping at digikey and didnt have labels. This was $30 more and seems worth it.

Cool, nice job! I still think this mod is one of the best bang-for-the-buck mods in terms of adding capability. Less than lockers and even cheaper than a set of tires.

On the YouTube page for this video, user AG Overland lists the parts for 2023 Prado VX left had drive vehicles.
Parts required (left-hand drive models):
  • PN: 84970-60330 - SWITCH ASSY, COMBINATION
  • PN: 89271-60050 - COMPUTER, STABALIZER CONTROL
  • PN: (Optional) 55405-60580 - PANEL SUB-ASSY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH
Note the computer, stabilizer control is a different part number that RHD vehicles. Has anyone attempted this on the 2020-2023 GX460? You would presumably need the switch assy for the 2020+ GX with MTS/CC, and the computer.

The stabilizer control computer manages the KDSS system. Not having a Prado VX handy I can't say this for certain, but I believe the VX didn't come with KDSS. All GX 460s do, though, so we've all already got this computer, and there's no alternate version of it listed anywhere I can find.

The repair manual for the 2020+ GX460s makes it pretty clear what we're missing on these trucks; the skid control computer on an MTS/CC equipped truck is a physically different part with additional pinouts to the wiring harness, and probably different hydraulic passages on the manifold side as well. In case that last sentence is causing confusion for anyone, the skid control computer on these trucks isn't just a computer, it's also a hydraulic manifold that directly controls the flow of brake fluid through the braking system, that's why it's mounted directly to the side of the brake master cylinder.

Toyota sells the skid computer separately, or the whole brake booster assembly with the skid computer installed. If I ever find a deal on a used assembly I'll buy it and attempt the install. Not really interested in swapping the computer only, because I'm not convinced the master cylinder itself isn't different, and you can't return a computer.

OK. So wire harness is also different (not all pins located behind the dash on the non MTS/CC vehicles. So, if the whole brake booster assembly (with skid computer installed) where installed, you may also have to add a few wires between the booster to the dash switch assembly?

My GX has the luxury package and the multi-terrain monitor system, so from what I've read I should have the same wiring harness as the MTS/CC equipped ones. GXes so equipped might the be only ones that can have MTS/CC added via a brake booster/control panel swap alone, though. MTS/CC was not sold without the multi-terrain system in the states, at least not in the 22-23 model years. The way Toyota worded the part descriptions makes it hard to say if there's some further integration requiring the presence of the mult-terrain monitor system for MTS/CC to work.

The crappy part is, since even a used brake booster assembly is 7-800 dollars, and ones with the right skid control computer are basically unobtanium on the used market, this is both an expensive and time consuming gamble. I'm willing to take the risk with a used part if I can find one, not paying $1400 for a new assembly just to find out if my theory is right.
