Looks good!

Don't give up on painting man..... you are almost there. 1 day of work and those doors will match and look SOOOOO much better!

yeah, I know, I'll get to it...

just wanted to drive the fawker for a bit today. Maybe next weekend I'll slather on a little more moutard..

I need to have a poke around at the font bearings too, see if there's any grease in there. lockouts are just at the point where you can still turn them by hand...

be nice to mess with mechanical s*** for a while...

So, doorfest continues...or will continue once I get this hardtop defunked and on.

I had figgered on soft top only, but I don't want to drill a bunch of holes for one top, and then have to drill more for another a year later...what I really want is one of those ocd beetle tops...but for now....more freakin green....:bang:

just painting the inside black, a lot easier than spraying everything. and did I mention I was sick of painting?

I'll have to grab a bit of car carpet or something to glue in as a headliner, one that was in there was sagging, and they don't usually like getting glued back in...

Naturally the little strip that goes ontop of the w/s frame had one side that was pooched, so I took it off and had a go at making a new end for it.

kinda jammed in a piece of paper and formed it to the end, and used it as a pattern to make the same piece inside out....

and after about an hour of thumpin and a bangin that sounded like an army of tinkers fixing a kettle, I ended up with this...was kinda fun to make, but glad I only need the one side, I'll patch the other.

I'll finish it off tomorrow, smooth out some of the bumps, weld and goop it in place and then devise some sort of Rube Goldberg collection of blocks pulleys and harnesses on stray dogs to help get the top onto the cruiser all by me onesies.

and THEN...I can see whether the amby doors still fit like stock with the rear sill I made or if I have to adjustimate a smidge...

I spray glued a double sized blanket to the top of mine. It was $6.77 + tax at Zellers... right in your price range.:hillbilly:

what , they don't go on sale?

good idea tho...could go for the plush velvet elvis headliner...:grinpimp:

may have to do some browsing while I'm supposed to be working...

This one was on sale... Original price was more Ike $9.95.

This fabric had some stretch so it didn't need any seams in the corners.

Can you get mustard coloured velvet?

got a fleecy blanket that's kinda tan coloured...should do the trick.

had to splurge tho, it was like 12 bucks cuz it's a queen size.

( Not sure how I'm going to recover from such a horrendous expenditure....)

Figger I'll have some left over for an overhead console or something if I decide to put in a shelf.

yep, done the headliner thing a few times in different cars, this stuff is pretty much a cheaper version of "car carpet" so I'm not too worried about the procedure...

( used to repair sails for $$$ in them foreign places...I can do fabric ;))

looks like I got the same blanket as you tho, glorious baby**** tan colour...

s*** son, that thing is taking shape!!! Looks drivable enough to me to take out for a new-year's run!?!?

Oh, and by the looks of things i'm back just in time for a fiberglass repair session at the goats barn... I'll bring the busted up top and beers...:grinpimp:

it's possible...,hoping to have a bit of a session on it tomorrow...see how far I can get...I wanna get the lid on there , even if it's the wrong colour because the bikini top I have is a total piece of s***...flaps and thumps you in the head...not to mention lets the seats get dampish..

haven't had much more than a spin to the booming metropolis of chemainus in it yet, haven't had a chance to check bearings and if there's any oil in the tranny, but yeah, it's a maybe...;)

and sure we can drink some beer in the garage, maybe even fix the glass on your top....

got the hardtop on today...

methinks some tweekage of body mounts is required, cuz things were a tad uncivilized to line up...

pretty sure I need to lower the centre mounts a smidge, my thinking is that'll close up the door opening a little, which should fix most of the weirdness.

top is still the s***ty green colour, but I figger I can spray the doors and the top all at once. Question is, how much effort do I put into the top.

At some point I'll be swapping the ht sides for another set I have that's better, so I'm not entirely sure it's worth the price of the mustard paint to even spray this top the right colour....May try it in black, see how that looks. be better than green at least...

Paint them red so I can use them next!:flipoff2:

I have a whole top for ya, fabulous shade of brown, inside and out.

I need to get the freakin thing out of my driveway,so I make you bess price:lol:

I'm gettin kinda sick of looking at it...and that's me...swmbo has been surprizingly tolerant, makes me nervous....

on another note, I threw my 32's up on usedvic, looking to trade for some 31's or skinny 33's ( I know, 31's are considerably more likely...but whatever, gotta get rid of these wide ass young punk tires...)

must be the tryptophan but I haven't done much to the s***pile lately.

kinda trimmed up the front bumper so it'd be a little less hideous, added a receiver to it, so at least I can tow s*** in reverse now... and the little T shaped holes are for the jack.

And today I did something uber important.... I finally took the advice of those emails I've been getting for the last 5 years and did some knob improvement. ( this'd be the engine shutter downer knob)
looked better when it was old weathered bronze, but seems the beer adversely affected my aim with the zipcut, so had to polish out a divet or two:doh:

and yesterday, I got a bit bored for a couple hours , decided to fxxx around with the plasma cutter....figgered this is about the only 45 I'm likely to have again..basically I saw those paper model cruisers online, and figgered I'd have a go at it with a hunk of metal.

Not only that, I now have spider gears on the kitchen counter, and she actually likes it...:hillbilly:

yeah I know, but it was that or get a case of beer and get all pie eyed....more fun waking up with a funky metal truck on the counter than a hangover:lol:

and you don't need to stalk rita, you just have to check your watch when it gets dark out...if it aint evening, she's nearby. ;)

Toshi38 good to see the 42 finally... and have a few beers... be good to see my cruiser live on in the form of your new windshield!

yeah thanks for that, been deciding whether to pop the frame right off the truck and give it a proper going over, or just drop in the new w/s in situ...more coffee first.
