So, doorfest continues...or will continue once I get this hardtop defunked and on.
I had figgered on soft top only, but I don't want to drill a bunch of holes for one top, and then have to drill more for another a year later...what I really want is one of those ocd beetle tops...but for now....more freakin green....
just painting the inside black, a lot easier than spraying everything. and did I mention I was sick of painting?
I'll have to grab a bit of car carpet or something to glue in as a headliner, one that was in there was sagging, and they don't usually like getting glued back in...
Naturally the little strip that goes ontop of the w/s frame had one side that was pooched, so I took it off and had a go at making a new end for it.
kinda jammed in a piece of paper and formed it to the end, and used it as a pattern to make the same piece inside out....
and after about an hour of thumpin and a bangin that sounded like an army of tinkers fixing a kettle, I ended up with this...was kinda fun to make, but glad I only need the one side, I'll patch the other.
I'll finish it off tomorrow, smooth out some of the bumps, weld and goop it in place and then devise some sort of Rube Goldberg collection of blocks pulleys and harnesses on stray dogs to help get the top onto the cruiser all by me onesies.
and THEN...I can see whether the amby doors still fit like stock with the rear sill I made or if I have to adjustimate a smidge...
