So, only got one full day to work on it this past weekend, her nibs decided I was going to be refinishing the bedroom floor and assisting with painting and all that good stuff...
On the bright side, I can go back to ignoring the house for another 6 months...:grinpimp:

Got some stuff done tho.

Built some rocker protection/sliders, and cut out the rotten rear sill, made a new one and got one of the back corners mostly rebuilt.

a few pics to try to motivate myself to go out there tonight...

and the joys of rear silliness.

Used a bit of flatbar and some square tube to recreate that little step dealio there is back there.

Considered the CCOT piece for about 4 seconds, then heard the distinct tone of my bunghole slamming shut at the price, and went for this way.

It will look pretty much the same in the end, and you can sortof see it in this pic if you squint a little...:hillbilly:

This side was the much worse of the two, and the corner itself and the side is actually surprizingly fair, will hardly need any weld improving putty, under the spare tire carrier there's a bit of wonk, but it's under the spare tire carrier, so I'm not too worried.

I'll give it a little hammerlove before I finish, so it should be somewhat respectable for a half drunk redneck with a hammer as his most sophisticated tool...:hillbilly:

yeah, I know it's not very islander of me, but I can't stand that s***...

It brings the hangover before you're finished the first can...

If all goes according to plan, I should have the bodywork done this weekend ( cept for doors and such) and if it isn't freezing I'll be able to give it the hopefully final squirt of moutard, and I can move on to fun s*** again.

Nice slider step bar things! I really like them. They suite the truck nicely and I like the home made aspect as well.

How's does that mustard go through a spray gun at sub 0 temps anyway?

dunno, power was out all day, so got precisely fxxxall done .

got the rear corners and sill pretty much done this week tho, so I'm still hopefull to at least get the rest of it in primer anyways.

looks like the final coat of mustard is going to involve heaters and a hippie shack...

Woohoo....body work welding is doooone...:bounce:

squirted some etching primer on the bare spots while they were warm from the welding, but until I figger out some sorta hippie shack with heat in it, that's about all I can do with the paint.

gave er a squirt today.

have a heater on each tire, warms up the panels fairly well, tho not so much up forward, so we'll have to see how the paint reacts.

also had the paint pretty warm before I squirted. figger it can't hurt.

Not perfect by any stretch, but at least it's all one colour, lighting is so s***ty in there it's hard to tell if it needs another coat, but I'll see how this one works in the cold before thinking too much about that.

hopefully good enough till summer when I can give it another quick and dirty shot of paint in the sun.

which would mean I can put the roll bar and tail lights , tire carrier etc etc back together tomorrow, then turn it around to deal with the few issues up front...:grinpimp:

Rear sill looks not bad for being a chunk of 2x2 and a 1/4" piece of flat bar....

Nice!

Looks good.

Got a few Mustard Yellow tools around the place now? I know I got lots of "gray/silver/chrome" stuff after painting in my garage.

I'm sure the paint will cure just fine, perhaps a little slow in these temps but fine none the less.

When I shot mine I had a headlamp on my head and 2 Dewalt snake light things around my neck trying to get enough light. I should have tried to take a pic of myself but I was too high off the fumes!

heh, yeah strap came off my respirator mid-spray, so I was holding it on with one hand and trying to see through fogged up glasses as well...good thing it's just a cruiser..

stuck my head right up against the truck and I could at least tell what was wet and what was dry as I sprayed, so went with that.

Back when I worked at the boatyard, I sprayed paint onto a boat in the rain with a tiger torch in one hand, and the sprayer in the other... this was way less barbaric than that...

much to my amazement tho, the paint cured fast...almost faster than when I painted in the sun, the heaters on the tires worked awesome.

Now I just have to figger if it needs another coat, but I'm not too worried. I still need to spray the bib, and touch up a couple spots where theres' some green showing on the side aprons..

never mind the hard top and doors....( probably just going to do the doors, and use a soft top until I feel like messing with paint again...)

and yep, lotsa mustard coloured stuff out there now...:hillbilly:

Sweet. Well done.:beer::beer::beer:

Thanks guys, did some small stuff today. Tire carrier on , hood latches, seatbelts...that sorta thing, nothin' picture worthy.

Next is getting the doors back to life. Ones that were on the truck had rotten bottoms, but came with another set with good bottoms, but all the innards are rusted and seized....yay me.

gettin there....

c'mon those stock cages are sssuuuuper strong....

in time I'll build one...

If you drive like me, prolly not need for a cage as I take the chicken s*** route..
