Hi all, good to be active on site again! Sometimes life’s complicated! Going down the rabbit hole of engine swaps in oldgrey. And just to be contrary I was considering a ford 400 cause I have access to a sweet donor truck with 30,000 original miles on it that I can poach engine tranny etc. The truck is a f350 dump truck from a golf course. The trucks not worth working with but all the running gear is in great shape. I researched the threads and ran across one where Mace chimed in about his 5.0 in his 60 then a few post later the 400 was brought up but nothing specific as to dumping one in a 60. Other than my land cruisers I like old fords too. I can make this engine into a better torque monster easily than it already is and I think it would be a perfect match in my 87’ BUT, I can’t see a path to get there? Not sure if I would have to ditch all the LC stuff behind the engine? Bottomless pit of $$$$$$$ in fabrication, parts etc. Thought I would pose the question to the cruiser gods. What say you?

I personally wouldn't bother with it, just swap in a 6.0L LS and take advantage of all the aftermarket support here that makes it incredibly easy.

I've got a 5.3 in mine and can go 95+ on the highway, you don't need a 6.6L in these.

It’s not that I can’t go down the bow tie path, just was trying to think out of that box.
You’ve got my full support - don’t expect to be Toyota drive train and I have not heard of a Ford adapter kit buuuut

Who cares

Run Ford all the way to t case and bastard drive shafts

Remember the cardinal rule - their is no replacement for displacement

Oil on may be an issue but no one says you can’t make your own pan to fit

After 13 LS swaps - this sounds way fun and cool

Holler if you need any help or need to bounce ideas
