Thanks. I was just trying to update sig line but it says I have one line too many and too many characters. Was trying to find someone to resolve that.
I haven't done too much to this vehicle except work in the woods with nearly every single day.
The Lexus dealership owner's wife drove it and he said it went a long time without an oil change. I guess because he could.... he had the motor rebuilt at 40,000 miles. I'm not sure of every single detail of the rebuild but that is what he said. I got it at 129K miles in excellent condition. If I can recall everything.... I have replaced radiator, starter, alternator, hoses, u-joints, OME springs and shocks long time ago, brake booster, front pinion seal, T case front seal, Dizzy O-ring, rear rotors and front bearings and seals one time. That is all I can think of that has been done. Nothing to engine, nothing to tranny...NEVER changed tranny fluid and still clean as ever. Used 20w50 oil for last 270k miles. Doesn't loose oil at an alarming rate but does have the common leaks. Right now it idles at 650 rpm and has zero vibration. It is a recipient of divine intervention.
Another divine little fact regarding this great vehicle. In May of 2005 I was going down a busy four land hwy in my 1992 LC with 300K miles. Out of the blue the brakes went out at about 45 mph. I diverted into median and shooved the stick into park. The LC just simply went dead and came to a nice peaceful stop. No damage at all to me or my LC. I then slowly got a little braking power that got me back to the Toyota dealership, which was right next to the Lexus Dealership.
As the LC was getting new brakes I found the LX 450 next door. Right about the same time in May, as a land broker, I sold a tract of timberland with another broker and was about to close the deal. He and I were going to split the commission 50/50. Well, in the mean time I decided to get the LX 450 and wrote a check for $11,000. A few days later I drove the LX to the closing. The other broker lived out of town and was not at the closing. On the way back home I talked to the other broker and told him I was going to FedEx him his check. He then said, "I tell you what, just give me $50K and you take the rest." The difference in the "rest" was exactly $11,000.
That is how my '96 LX 450 began and now I have passed it on to my son...in divine style!
