Hi All:

I'm looking for your thoughts on trimming the rocker panels (the area of the body tub where the running boards mount) up drastically.

Will this weaken the body tub?

Anyone have any photos to share of how they did this sort of project?

Thanks much!

Alan

Go for it.. i just did it to mine.. i cut all the way up to the bottom of the floorboards, about 4".

I am going to put some 1.5" Square tubing in place of it to act as a slider!

that bottom 4" is just hanging there, it dose not provide much structure to the tub. i will take a few photos soon

hack it, it doesn't do anything. It's just there.

Cut even with the support channel reinforced the area with 1X1 box then put these in..

Hi All:

"Bustanutley," thanks for the response and the pic! That was sorta what I was thinking of doing.

"Isotel," had a chance to snap any photos of your rig yet?

Thanks all!

"Tucker," thanks for the response and photo! Any other pics of your rig available?

Regards,

Here are the photos of mine, i cut about 1/4" below the floorboards due to the rounded corners on the square tubing, i still have not put on the square tubing.. I ended up getting some 2" Square for the sliders.. im going to weld them to the body..

more to come once i get it finished!

I removed 1 1/2 from the bottom and an additional 1/2 where the tubing goes into the frame.
Since the tubing is 2" in diameter, the ground clearance is close to original.

Sometimes I think I should have removed 2" from the bottom, but you know what they say -
It's always easier to remove it then...
